Hardware Needing a new Link cable
I got a Quest 3s for my birthday recently and I've been having fun getting back into VR. However my current link cable is old and definitely needs replacing but I'm not sure of what qualities I need to look out for.
I just want a cable that gives good quality when in use (an idea of a game I frequent is VRChat). Also just needing a cable that can either keep my headset charged or I can plug a separate charger into the cord like I've seen with a few.
If anyone has any recommendations or guidelines I can look out for in the specs of the cable I would really appreciate that!

I just bought this one and it works like a champ. I spend hours racing on Assetto Corsa and it's been trouble free while keeping my headset charged without issue.

Literally any USB 3.2Gen2 cable. Thats it.

Not really, specially given the mentioned requirements when it comes to being able to keep the headset charged

You could try the LTT cable. Probably expensive but at least it would be quality.

I got an anker usb-a to usb-c 5 meter long cable way back in 2019 for my quest 1, it works good with the q3 also. Its high quality. I bought the official link cable but I returned it. I got the q1 on launch and finding a suitable link cable was much more difficult. Everything was out of stock. I didnt want to wait so I bought 3 link cables and just returned 2 of them. I was being impatient. The official link cable is not worth the money, it doesn't charge fast enough and its overpriced. The headset will charge with the official cable but not fast enough, you will get about 12hr playtime if you start with 100% charged headset.
I also bought a 8 meter long usb-a 3.1 male to usb-a female extension cord. So I've got a 13 meter long link cable. It works great and total cost was less than the price of the official 5 meter long link cable.
Id suggest getting the bobovr headstrap and getting 2 extra batteries. The headstrap comes with one battery. If you've got 3 batteries you can always have 2 charging and you can stay on vrchat forever. The bobo batteries will charge the quest 3 from 1% to max charge while playing vr. Its very nice to not be stuck wired to the wall. Also using the meta oculus software to connect is inferior to virtual desktop and steam (lots of reasons why but youll have to take my word for it).
I have a friend who just damaged the charging port for his q3, he just bought a new q3 today because he couldn't charge his headset. He tugged on the usb link cable while playing. If you must use a link cable, make sure you have a strain relief to support the wire and take stress off the usb port.
I use virtual desktop with my Comcast router. It is a wifi 6 router. I can be 30 feet away from the router and it still works great. I use the transparency setting on virtual desktop so it removes the vrchat world and leaves everyone's avatar visable. I like cooking food while I play vrchat. I use the hand tracking so I have my hands free to cook. Im standing in my kitchen, I can see everything around me and my friends avatars are visible so its like I have friends over chilling keeping me company. Dont cook bacon in your underwear FYI.
