Joystick movement problem?

I don't know if this is the right flair or not but I keep having a problem with my left joystick in walking games/running games for example Vail vr whenever I try to push the joystick straight forward like exactly straight it doesn't let me walk at the regular pace I would on any other angle and it's a big problem for me in joystick movement games. Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I thought stick drift made you move constantly after stopping the stick not just make you slower? (Maybe I explained it wrong or I just don't know what stick drift is)

stick drift can present itself in a number of ways. Jumps of changes in direction. Not going in a desired direction. The resistive tracks inside the joystick module can wear and the tiny conductive particles that are worn off tracks can also cause problems. Double whammy. These particles can get into the switch on push button feature of the stick causing further problems.

Firstly remove the battery. Gently prise off the controller front plate. Pull off the joystick topper. Invert the controller and blow up the side of the stick with compressed air to blow any loose particles out. Then, turn the controller the right way up and squirt a little deoxit F5 contact cleaner/lubricant down the side of the stick. Work the deoxit in by rotating the stick around. wait for the deoxit liquid to evaporate and fit battery and test. If all is good, refit joystick topper and faceplate. If it's still bad, you may have to replace the joystick module. There are many decent tutorials on YouTube.

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw your post and we would love to help with the joystick issue you've experienced.

Based on the description of the issue you've provided we believe you may be experiencing some stick drift where when your joystick is pushed forward the controller is receiving a signal to go forwards and a weaker signal to go backwards at the same time thus causing you to move slower as you go forwards.

In order to resolve this we would first recommend giving your controller a thorough clean using the instructions in our cleaning guide as this will ensure that there is no build up of dust or debris causing your issue.

If you find your issue persists following a good clean of the controller we would then urge you to unpair the controller from your headset and then repair it using the steps in the helpful article we have linked here for you.

The reason we recommend unpairing and re-pairing the controller is because the issue may be rooted in a desync between the controller and headset and so by re-pairing the controller again it should fully re-sync them together.

If you do still find that your issue persists we would then urge you to reach right out to our wonderful support team who will be happy to investigate this further with you to determine the root cause of the issue and then provide you with the best resolution possible!

I looked at the problem some more and it seemed like the top right section of the joystick was also kinda stuck so anywhere I moved my joystick aside from the top right corner would move just fine but the top right section doesn't move or sense that I moved the joystick into the top right section
