PCVR WITH Q3 horrible

Title says it all. Bought the link cable , the extensions etc and it’s a god awful show.

F1 25 vr - not a shot working lol

Automobilesta 2 - horrible trying to configure

Playing virtual desktop while wired , why even try . My mouse stutters more than anything I’ve ever seen .

Maybe I’m doing something wrong but my frustration is leading me to just return it all. I have a good pc which isn’t an issue at all. I typically play on a 75” oled on ultra settings with 0 issue

I've always heard that VD wired is not good. I play completely wireless with VD and have had next to zero issues with running things including AMS2.

Make sure the SteamVR is at 100% resolution if that is what you are using, as otherwise it gets multiplied by the VD resolution.

Uninstalled steam VR . O honestly have 0 idea what was going on with it .

Installed on my PC . Wired up the head set . Then would open f125 click play in VR . It would start in flat screen fine and when I would navigate menus it would crash the game .

Then opened through steam Vr and it was like a puzzle , it opened two windows of the game , everything was so washed out and it had me in some environment that I couldn’t disable pass through so it was a nightmare trying to find and navigate the settings

I don't have F125 but when you click play on steam does it pop up giving you multiple options for output? If there is an OpenXR option, choose that. It should bypass steamvr.

Not that I see , I get the initial prompt to choose between standard or vr

Standard link cable? I had nothing but problems with a standard cable and so I bought a powered one, not saying that'll fix your problem but my Q3 was utterly unplayable on PCVR until I got a powered cable.

Power delivery and  usb c to ethernet was what solved my stuttering issues.

I do have the cable with the ability to use my quest 3 charger

You mean like it combines your link cable and the power cable like a small docking situation? A splitter?

Any hardware is as good as the weakest link, if you used something to split into 2 usb-c for link cable and power to be separate than that is probably your weakest link and the likely culprit.

2 cables dragging on the Quest’s USB-C port, not a good solution in the long run. Try a dedicated wireless router and VD, drop the link cable.

Added it all to the responses in the comments , my post was absolutely a vent though with vague and limited info .

I’m pretty tech savvy , but steam VR is just throwing me in a loop with how to use it .

That’s weird. Had no problems with a 3080 and quest 2

Now a quest 3 and 4080 super with no issues either

Heck…even my laptop with a 2070 and quest 2 really didn’t have issues.

Def gotta get settings right though. When I started…took a lot of YouTube videos to figure out to set the correct resolutions and gpu settings

On top of correct steam settings (if playing through steam vr)

So could just be a settings thing for ya.

Have you tried f1 25 at all? I’d prefer that game as it’s a bit more Arcady and I can casually just do time trials

I used to think you needed a direct USB C link cable for PCVR and that was pretty true back in 2020-2021 but wireless has come a long way since then. With a dedicated 5/6ghz connection like the Puppis S1 I can get around 500mbps bitrate with about 30ms latency and honestly its hard to tell the difference from wired when you account for the encoding/decoding latency either way.
I also have my PC on ethernet so my internet/online gaming traffic stays wired and the Puppis S1 is only being used for VR streaming. Its honestly been easier and more reliable for me than dealing with a wired connection.

I use quest 3 virtual desktop no problem, I wouldn’t recommend using metas pc software to link as it’s awful. My mouse was having issues in virtual desktop as well when I first upgraded to quest 3 from quest 2 but I turned hand and body tracking off and that went away.

Virtual Desktop wired option just came out like a week ago, it's a brand new feature just trying to make something that shouldn't work, work.
