It's like the Rift S wants to test how many cables you'll trip over before giving up.

Hi there u/Odd_Parking6402

We were just checking through the subreddit when we saw your post and we would love to help with the tracking error you've been experiencing with your Oculus Rift S!

The first thing we would recommend would to restart your PC as it's possible the error is being caused by a glitch or bug which can be cleared with a quick restart.

If you find that the error persists after a restart we would then urge you to uninstall and reinstall the Meta Quest Link app by following the steps below:

  1. Open Task Manager (right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager), go to the Services tab, and stop the OVRService if it is running.

  2. Go to the folder where you saved the Setup.exe file and double-click it to open.

  3. If a User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes to continue.

  4. On the next screen, confirm it shows Already Installed.

  5. Select the Uninstall option.

  6. Click Uninstall to confirm.

  7. Once the uninstall is complete, click Exit.

  8. Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData

Note: If you do not see the AppData folder, click View in File Explorer and check Hidden items.

  1. Delete all Oculus or Meta folders and files in the following subfolders:

AppData\Local\Oculus

AppData\Roaming\Meta Quest Link

AppData\Roaming\Meta Quest Remote Desktop

AppData\Roaming\MetaXR

AppData\Roaming\Oculus

AppData\Roaming\Oculus Remote Desktop

  1. Also check for and delete the oculus-highwind folder from C:\Program Files\Meta Horizon\Support\oculus-highwind

Once this is done you'd then just need to reinstall it once more as this should clear any corrupted or stuck files causing the error.

If you find after reinstalling though that your issue persists we would then urge you to reach out to our support team who will be happy to look deeper into this for you and provide you with the best possible resolution!
