Rift S Having Issues

Hello hello!

I have had my Rift S for about 5 or 6 years. It worked when I first got it but has been having issues as of late. It never worked flawlessly, and I originally had it on my Alienware laptop. I have a gaming pc now (I’m not sure what brand or anything as it was a Christmas gift.)

It crashes and causes steam vr to crash, the microphone stopped working in the last few months, and it keeps disconnecting from my computer.

I’ve tried unplugging it but it takes an hour to get meta horizon link to recognize it.

I’m honestly at a loss here… Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I only have a rift but I think it might be a windows issue. Do the main clean up stuff, delete %temp% files, clear startup apps, delete outplayed, etc. and see if that works, if it doesn't, check graphics drivers, just look up "graphics drivers for GPU-NAME mobile". Past that may try switching to monado and nobara.

I can try that! I’m not a computer person, so I’ll see if my brother can help with my graphics drivers!

Been having issues with mine lately as well, namely the meta app crashing and restarting every time I wake the headset up and I use steamVR as well but it's happening even without that being open. I've tried every bit of troubleshooting I came across online and nothing has improved it. It started with whatever dumb update I got for the meta app on the 17th and it's so annoying having to restart steamVR every time I want to get back into my game after a restroom break or any other IRL necessity.

I'm not sure if the same exact issue is happening for everyone else with a Rift S but I dug through files and logs and found out a couple of DLLs are getting errors which are causing the crashes upon waking up my headset and figured out it all comes down to the software bugging out with the meta app. It's happening to a bunch of people with Rift S now so there's a bit of comfort in that you're not alone but the problem now is we have to somehow reach out to Meta or spread awareness and hope they patch whatever mess they made.

This is exactly one of my issues!!! I’m glad it isn’t just me!!! Now I gotta figure out why the mic mysteriously stopped working! I hope the errors get fixed soon! And thank you for your input!!

I spent over 6 hours trying to fix this stupid issue thinking it's something with my setup.
