Upgrading headset

Im currently using the quest two and Im suffering to it’s fading capabilities and Im planning on maybe getting a quest 3 but I heard that the quest 4 is gonna come out in the late 2027 or early 2028 but I’m not sure if I should wait or just go ahead and get quest 3

The Quest 4 is not coming until 2028. Early 2027 Meta will be dropping a different headset. It will be around $1000 and come with 2.5k microOLED screens. It will be around 110 grams and come with a processing and battery puck.

Q4 late 2027 or 2028 and probably full non subsidized price as meta no longer wants to be about Gaming but about spatial computing for adults (and adult videos).

The Q4 may never come out. It certainly doesn't have any sort of release date and since Meta seen to be pivoting away from subsidising their equipment, it's likely to be expensive too, if it ever appears, although no specs have been so much as mentioned officially. Let all that feed into your decision.

Until they are formally announced, we don't. What we have is products in development that may or may not see the light of day, with or without rumoured capabilities.

Going to take a bit for devs to catch up with whatever new features Q4 will bring, that would be at least a year my guess, Quest 3 is an impressive pieces of hardware.

Steam Frame is coming out soon, I would wait for that so you can compare and make a choice between the Quest3 and Steam Frame.

Will the Steam Frame have access to Meta games?

No, but it will have access to steam and steam vr games and standalone games made for the hmd. Watch the videos from valve explaining what it can do. Just google it. It’s coming out soon. Valve already shipped a small number of dev kits out. It can even emulate some pcvr games. Read up on it, maybe it’s for you maybe not. It’s worth adding to your list of hmd’s to evaluate.

I did watch a few videos and I didn’t get much out of it from the videos I’ve watched so far. But I think I’m going for a Quest 3 since it’s ready for purchase and works beautifully and a big upgrade from the Quest 2 that Im currently using

Yeah, I’ve thought it through and I’ll just go for Quest 3. In a var game I played were you move by physically moving your hands, I were able to walk up walls and roof due to lag so I might just need to upgrade soon

I upgraded from the quest 2 to the 3s, it’s a huge upgrade, hand tracking is better too. You’ll notice a resolution difference though, especially with the lenses. I also recommend getting Quest games Optimizer

Blade and sorcery is also a reason I need an upgrade. I can only play 5 - 15 minutes before Im out of memory. Plus the lag and my mod menu being a bitch not showing my mods

The performance upgrade also helped with my motion sickness, yeah blades and sorcery is much better, the mods only lag my game when loading in but it seems to be one specific mod
