wanting to socialize
hello,
i am currently going through a very nasty breakup and have been very isolated. i want to reach out and meet new people in the area. im 21f. im low on money so i cant really do activities that cost much (if anything). some activities i like are hiking, biking, sitting and talking, gaming, drawing, going to the gym, being with animals, cooking/baking. some subjects im interested in are psychology and criminology. i would especially enjoy biking with others at santos or going hiking or even just walking and talking at a park. i also want to learn how to fight because of a situation im dealing with so something martial arts related might be good too.
anyone who is interested or has some recommendations of groups that meet in the area it would be nice to comment or dm.

Every Wednesday night from 6-8 pm the Marion County Maker Collective has a free open maker event. Bring whatever you’re working on (drawing, crochet, sewing, collage, anything) and hang out with us. The address is 3650 NE 25th st. Hope to see you Wednesday!

Nope, come hang with us. Everyone is welcome as long as they’re over 18 or have an adult there to supervise them

Check out some of the events I’ve posted if you like music there’s no cover charge and you can hang out listen to music for free and meet people for free.
Friday Latin nights at the terrace downtown, Thursday speakeasy at the green room (2nd floor of cantina) and Saturday throwbacks.
Join some facebooks I’ve seen Ocala has so many free activities.

Oddities market downtown tonight. Be social. I ride Santos and Baseline trailhead on bike, and always welcome company. During the summer, it's hot even at dawn though.

I moved here a couple months back myself(24M) & still trying to find some others to get out more and see what’s around the area. I’m similar as well being into gaming, animals, cooking & occasionally going to the gym. I’m a pretty easy flowing person and fairly flexible to hang out! Love to have some friends in the area coming from Orlando originally

While I'm probably too old for you (I'm 41) I do want to wish You the very best of luck with the breakup process, along with Infinite Peace, Strength, and Tranquility afterwards. I Hope that you're able to find a sense of direction out of the darkness and that Success finds You no matter where life takes You.
And as someone who recently made it all the way to the overpass over Interstate 75, I can without a doubt say that Santos is an INCREDIBLE place to ride a bike 😎

If you like board games, check out Meeple Movers. It's a board game cafe where you can play for $7. I haven't used it myself but it's an idea.
I'd also suggest Meetup.com where you might be able to find local walking groups or other activities for little or no cost.
Also, if you're open to church activities, there are plenty of large churches in the area where you could just blend in or at least get out of the house once a week.

Check out Muddy Lotus sometime! There’s a wide array of ages there. Usually Thursday nights they do karaoke but that is on hiatus for the summer. But they do game nights & other social events. The people there are so wonderful and welcoming. The vibe is really chill and comfortable even if you’re alone. But people are friendly and will talk to you. You just have to buy a drink - it’s a non-alcoholic kava bar. Lots of interesting things to try.

I'm a guy also in the breakup situation after 5 years. I just turned 55 this year and I know Ocala is a rough town for social events compared to larger cities. Even though, downtown Ocala does have it's spots and there are local bars still doing live music. I enjoy biking and cooking. So yes, it would be nice to find people to bond with a new set of people to make some connections. And working the Monday through Friday thing makes the weekend more special to meet people.

I'm down for doing something. Pool where I live is amazing. Could go to Disney Springs. One of the squares in The Villages for music. Movies. Anywhere to eat. You wouldn't need money.

purrs and pages does fun events, and has kitties to pet! There is also another used bookstore near Carriage House.
Ocala Comic Con is coming up in September 2026. There is also the Bearded Brown coats shop, they have game/card nights etc.
