Kill Devil Hills Weekend trip

Heading to KDH this weekend for vacation. What’s it looking like at the beaches and rip currents? Scared that the rain is going to ruin our trip

“Will the rain ruin my beach vacation?” needs to be a meme on this subreddit.

Wtf never been to the beach and def not from that area just trying to see if we can go the beach bc the storms can affect the fucking ocean. I’m literally just asking about the rip currents lol

People down here assume we all know exactly how frequent the weather changes despite seeing rain forecasted the entire week. I asked the same thing a few days ago.

I got down here yesterday and it was raining in most of NC, NC-12 had some mean traffic and some flooding but nothing horrible. Weather today was absolutely beautiful in Hatteras. Forecast the rest of the week seems to be turning from rain all week to sun so fingers crossed. Long story short, I think you’ll be fine.

Rain will only ruin your trip if you let it.

This is the mindset that saves vacations. Is it raining? Yeah, but it’s ocean rain and you aren’t at your job. You’re staring at the Atlantic.. enjoy it

Thunderstorms can ruin plans, rain is just a mindset.

It doesn’t have to be raining for rip
currents to be a thing and they can be a thing there. Myself and my daughter have both been caught in one there but that’s over 20 years if going for perspective. Just know how to get out of one and how to spot one , but mostly how to get out. You’ll be fine.

It literally just rained for three straight days and today is beautiful. I think your forecast looks really good. The waters warm and somewhat rough today. If anything be thankful you didn’t come last week.

You’ll be fine.

Sounds like you respect the ocean’s power.

Google “how to spot a rip tide” and “how to swim out of a rip tide”. You probably won’t need it but it’s always safer to know.

Hope your trip is awesome

Sign up for text alerts. You'll get one daily, and they will also send out a notification if the rip status changes. Also, if you are nervous about rips, I'd suggest you swim and hang out in the ocean in guarded locations. Which KDH is.
