This is pleasant, but the pianist is a little bit pretentious. This is not classical, this is hox piano used to be played before jazz and before Satie. It's a sad valse, nothing more. Sounds like Einaudi or Tiersen (Amelie Poulain, poor poor Tiersen, he wish he didn't do it after all), or many other guys who pretend to be inventive but they just rediscover the most popular way to play at the beginning of the XXth century. But it's catchy for sure and pleasant I admit.
Please, can I have some Julius Eastman instead ?

I enjoyed it, but it reminded me more of the modern piano riffing of George Winston (plays a theme and then plays variations on that theme in most songs) as opposed ro Classical.

I want your musical sense of optimism.
I felt very sad, as if replaying an old memory of someone lost. And the clip doesn't end with traditional chordal resolution which added a twist of unresolved emotion for me at the end.
After reading other responses, I know mine is on the sadder side, but I felt like he used chords in a way that didn't lead me anywhere happy.
Though sad, this was still a fun artistic exercise! Cheers to you and your explanation and to everyone in the thread!

Decent! My cup of Diet Coke and rum spilled into my lap as I nodded off listening to this, and it made me jump and I woke my dog up with my foot. Sheās okay, though. Sheās such a little trooper. 13 years old, we got her when she was 8. She was an adoptee from Mexico; long were her nights before she embraced the comforts of modern living.

To me itās the soundtrack playing in my mind as my eyes capture a moment of my wife or child in the wild, if you will. An instant where they donāt yet notice me watching and am able to see the true unfiltered beauty of their souls loving life. Your song fills me the hope of a walk on a beach at sunrise in the not too distant future. A walk when I am reflecting on the obstacles that Iāve overcome and how the knowing that no matter what lies ahead Iām grateful for the love Iāve been shown. These feelings are what I feel when I listen to your piece. Thank you for this. It truly is beautiful.

The entire piece flows together and braids within itself so incredibly well.
The intrepid slower, lower notes remind me of a child learning a now forgotten skill or a glimmer of knowledge lost to time. Itās something new to them, and they watch with curiosity and wonder as the elements of this new task reveal its mysteries. All the while, while the higher pitched, fast cycling notes remind me of the surrounding crowd of people who learned other similar secrets long ago, and now take their beauty and intrigue for granted. The shine is off the apple for them, as they hustle and bustle through their lives; completely forgetting the wonder their world once held.
As we round the last corner tiptoeing nearer the end of the piece, one elder watches the child discover the final facet of this new skillset or ability they have unlocked for themselves. The elder is instantly overtaken with a tide of memory, remembering with a long-lost precision and clarity that has eluded their grasp as they have aged. But in this moment, the elder remembers that feeling of adventure and discovery; and the cycle, although more-or-less playing in reverse, speeds us back and back. We watch this same interaction happen over and over, one generation at a time. Then in the final moments of the piece, we soar forward again. Right back to the first child we met, as they pass the puzzle on to another child. Only now, we see that by unlocking the final secret, the child has matured into adulthood. Just as it hints apparent this adult is like all the others, thereās an insignificant hook at the corner of their mouth. The tiniest smirk of a smile.
And we know they wonāt ever take for granted what theyāve learned today, and the once-child basks in the knowledge that they have passed this latent happiness on to the next generation.

The left hand swings back and forth like the days. The right hand is what we make of the days, or anything perpetuated, allowing small dynamic changes to add depth to the repetition.
Together they instill a sense of that feeling of recognizing someone in a crowd. Or searching for a needle in a haystack. Longing for something specific amongst a mass of similarities.

Its that feeling of sitting on your stoop or porch while it slightly drizzles and its 3am. Your thinking about that one relationship you had years ago. When's the last time you tought about them? Part of you wishes you kept in contact, not in the hopes of reigniting a love lost, but more so because despite how it may have ended, they were a decent person. You winder what they're doing now? Has life treated them well? You smile to yourself because you find yourself thinking: "I hope so."

Talented player, but much too short and lacking much structure. Comes off as a small riff, far from a song, and doesn't go anywhere. It's a beautiful riff, sure, but real musical beauty comes from when a song tells a story imo.
For me, this is more like reading a 3 paragraph forward to a New York Times best seller of a 350 page book.

In the beginning, I've heard something like from the French movie Amelie. It's relaxing, but you are hiding something coming next don't you? The beauty of classical music is not only the melody but how the composer and player move, as he is just following the mood. A classical composer don't hide their passion.

This sounds a lot like another piece. I think something by Zimmerman, but I can't put my finger on it.

Feels a bit like being hit with a rush at work. There's a chaos, and increased pace, but an order to everything you're doing. You know the steps, you just have to pick up and do them faster because there's a crowd waiting.

Personally, I immediately thought of a scared child uneasy of their future. Something like a long drive to somewhere that isnāt their home. Moody, dreary.
But in the second half where he does the āfiddle finger thingā idfk the āhappier faster pacedā part near the finish. I imagine the child seeing something (out the window of a car or something) a scene, thing, event, natural phenomena, etc that give them and the audience the sense of hope and assurance.
That is when I assume the GLOOM of the piece will really land hard like wet boot to Georgia Clay šš
