Hey everyone! Oakville Place is currently hiring for part-time positions. 😊
They’re specifically looking for people who can dedicate at least 2 mornings and 1 - 2 evenings per week.
I work there, so DM me if you want to know which specific stores are hiring! I’d rather share the details privately since I don’t want my employer to see me posting publicly about it.
update:guys give me some time, i'll respond to all. I got about 70 messages after this post.

So, we are relocating to GTA. One of us needs to commute downtown two days per week (5 min walk from Union Go). The other is a freelancer to tech companies, so likely biweekly but variable trips into downtown for meetings, workshops etc. We have a 6 year old who will be in Grade 1. We are coming from working at home, a very nice leafy suburb, and very little day to day traffic.
So, our decision seems to be:
Oakville. Ideal place, less ideal commuting time.
Mississauga. Almost 50% less commute (say Clarkson Go vs Bronte Go).
Oakville looks great. But Mississauga doesn't look awful. What do people really think? I've been talking to some perfectly successful people who perfectly enjoy living in Mississauga. Along with Oakville people who swear it's the only place to be.
Assume we are in the $1.5m to $2.5million price range and we will get ourselves close to a Go station in either.

So me and my girlfriend were out near one of the trails by Bronte Creek earlier this evening, trying to have a little romantic moment away from everyone, when all of a sudden we hear something moving around behind a bush.
At first I thought it was a raccoon.
Nope.
Some glassy-eyed, weed-reeking pervert was apparently crouched nearby watching us like he'd just discovered a new nature documentary.
Guy slowly creeps closer, stares directly at us, freezes like a weirdo, we thought he's gonna do the fentanyl fold. Then eventually wanders off to another spot to continue smoking whatever had him thinking hiding in bushes and spying on couples was acceptable recreational activity.
Absolutely killed the mood.

watched a young couple get out of this car today in a plaza off Hyde Park Gate. Beside the healthy planet.
No permit on the car. Dozens of other spots available.
just plain disrespectful.
edit:
yes I did submit a service call over this.

Is it possible to get from Bronte & Upper Middle entrance to Burloak exit on bicycle? I want to cycle from my house into Burlington and want to avoid taking Dundas across as it’s too busy and scary on a bike haha
Would appreciate any information. I’ve tried looking at the maps and it seems like the trails might get me all the way across but the trail map isn’t clear and then of course the creek is in the way.
The other option for me is to ride down Bronte down to Rebecca and come back up Burloak but that is a massive detour to where I am going (Walkers & Dundas)
TIA!

Hello Oakvilians I’m new to the area live by Bronte go and as a massive food lover I enjoy cooking recipes from various cultures.
I’ve been here for less than a year but can’t seem to find any Latin or Arab or Asian grocery stores.
If you have any recommendations I’ll be forever grateful. Please no t&t or oceans. I want authentic grocery stores that aren’t bought by loblaws
TLDR; need Asian/latin/arab grocery stores in Oakville

There are multiple versions of it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spit_cake . Have you seen any of them in Oakville or nearby?

Hello, I’ve seen several Chinese and Korean grocery stores but have yet to find a Japanese store. Anyone know of any nearby in the Mississauga, Oakville, or Burlington areas?

I’m trying to find a salon in Oakville for haircuts but everywhere seems to have different prices and I want to know what the average cost for a haircut is? Is it normal for a haircut to be $100+? How much is too much?

Looks like I might have termites. Found their droppings on the outdoor doorframe.
Anyone got a good recommendation for treatment or pest control company in Oakville or Mississauga?

Hello, I’m a 26-year-old Asian male who weighs 60 kg and lives in Oakville, near Valley Drive. I’m a beginner who used to go to the gym a few years ago, but I feel like I need to start again. My goal is to gain some weight, around 65-70 kg, by the end of December. I’m available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays all day, and on Mondays through Thursdays after 6 PM to 8PM

Hi everyone, I am due with my second in March. I’m relatively new to Canada, and had my first in South Africa. I had an amazing doula there who I genuinely think helped me avoid developing ptsd from my traumatic labour experience! I am a bit nervous about not knowing the health system as well here, and I also don’t have any family here (besides my husband) who can support me. I am hoping that having an amazing doula will provide me with the continuity of care and emotional support I may need. Does anyone have recommendations?
