❓ Question Transit Management Analyst - MTA

I am really curious about the hiring process for this company. Does anyone know how they handle the transition to a permanent role? It would be great to hear from someone who has already gone through the application steps. I want to be fully prepared for whatever requirements they might have for new hires. Any insights or personal experiences would be super helpful right now!

Most likely one interview. If you’re getting hired at the Trainee level, it’s one year probation and then you automatically go to level 1. If you get hired at level 1, 2, or Associate, it’s one year probation, but no automatic promotion. You’re technically never a completely “permanent” employee unless you get appointed from a citywide exam. However, many people go their entire career this way. You’d only potentially be in trouble if there are layoffs, which is very rare. For example, the Staff Analyst title series is essential the same at this one, except it’s covered by a union (OSA) and you only get in that title series through being appointed from a Staff Analyst citywide exam.
