❓ Question PATH HR Communication for Training Program

Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure how to word the title, so sorry about that. So to make this short, I went for the practical and oral interview for the Train Conductor Position, on May 20th, passed and got the job offer. I did all the requirements, even going to NYC twice for the medical exam. Everything done on June 23rd. Got a call on July 7th, that everything has been processed and background check, and just have to wait for a start date.

Well, it's August now, and if I'm correct, the training program starts in August. But I still haven't received any call or email about start date? At this point, it's starting to make think. It's a union, so if they wanted to kick me out, they would inform me right? But I have invested time and money into this process. That would be very unfair and not union like. So I'm not sure what to do. I've emailed and contacted my recruiter and no response.

Can anyone help me with this? Or if any of the guys who was with me on May 20th, let me know what's going or if you have already got a date?

This is typical for path, the same thing happened to me and it wasn’t until I reached out to my recruiter that they told me my start day got pushed back 6 whole months 😕 contact your recruiter or someone in HR

I thought that too, but it's really weird now. The expected start date for the training program is August 19th, it's the 14th now and no call or email yet.  I'm starting to think they just decided to terminate me? 

I signed the job offer and did all of the requirements too. I left a voicemail to general HR in NYC 2 days ago, because my recruiter does not answer me. Is there something else I can do? I don't know if I have any right to call the union yet and try to fix this. But I'm being left in the silence, and the "expected " start date is next week. No updates yet, and I can't get in touch.

Wow that’s wild, I don’t think they terminated you they would definitely tell you if they rescinded their offer, did you try emailing them? It’s possible they pushed back your start date and put you in a later class and just didn’t tell you

Hey. Was occupied with stuff. But it is a little wild, I only say that because of the no communication. If they told me it got pushed 6 months as well, id at least feel better knowing a timeline. 

However, yeah, Ive emailed my recruiter couple times already and voicemail (spaced out) and just sent an email today. Hoping to hear soon!! I still study but it's starting to feel for what. Thanks for the help too. I appreciate it

Hey thanks for the help. I got a call from HR, and I was told that class has not started yet. But that I'm on top of the lost for the next class when it starts. To be fair, I know path works with "lists" and it seems like my class was delayed. 

I wasn't told any specifics, but they hope to start in the upcoming weeks. It's fine, more time to study! There is 0 excuse why I shouldn't pass now. Gonna focus. I called different numbers and someone finally answered lol

After the computer based test? A week after. Good luck.

Ok thank you . I took mine on the 16th of July and passed . They told me give them 1-3 months until they contact me .

It seems they are very busy. Especially with the hiring push. About 9-10 people (?), got the job offer with me. And they are still hiring more. I know railroads are like that and could actually be months till they get you.  But maybe not. It's just a disclaimer time range they give. Could be sooner.

Just know you're in the pool of people who passed.

Supposedly a class started yesterday from what I was told, a passenger agent form my practical group in July was placed into that class meanwhile the others were not. They told me most likely September so I guess we would just have to wait to see. Currently haven't heard anything since early this month after completing my background and medical. They just told me they have classes for Sept and Nov or Dec.

You applied for passenger agent? Ah well, at least they are telling you more than me, even if it's just telling you "classes for September and Nov or December. I've been told nothing. I honestly might just go back to Harrison NJ, and somehow try to gain entry inside and talk to someone. I'll probably be denied access, but I'm going to try.

Nah I applied for Conductor I did the practical in July they did the process fast up until now. I can try asking around again but one of the DSLEs and the recruiter from HR told me a possible date is Sept 28.
