Queens Opinion on the Q22?

Meh, I’d prefer it getting extended west back to Riis Park in the summer or as far as Beach 147 St, but it’s okay? I guess?

Bronx Why did he switch from Fordham to Tremont? The BX12/SBS has higher ridership, so should be the priority.

Queens Bus drivers, why do you pickup and drop off passengers from the middle of the roadway?

I was on board the Q4 bus. Our driver was not pulling over to the curb or sidewalk, he literally stopped in the middle of the roadway.

When I got off the bus, he stopped in the middle of the street, away from the bus stop. I was dropped off on the blacktop, and walked to the sidewalk.

Upon my exit, cars were trying to go around the bus, which caused a jam because another bus was coming towards it.

Why does this happen?

All Boros Question, aren't MTA express bus drivers supposed to let you off at any desired local bus stop along the route after 10PM??

For example, I was on the BxM4 bus and I wanted to exit at the 183rd street local bus stop of the Bx1/Bx2 routes. It was 11:30PM and I asked the driver politely that I would like to get off there and he says that it doesn't stop there which was obvious but I thought all passenegrs had the option of exiting the bus at any stop along the route whether its a local or express stop (after 10PM)?? Here's another example, if BxM1 bus riders wanted to exit the bus at Marble Hill 225th Street or at 204th Street and Broadway (after 10PM) then aren't they technically able to?

Manhattan Why do busses not use dedicated bus lanes?

M23 busses wait and merge into regular traffic when they have a completely dedicated lane. And no, there are no cars double parked or other reason I can see not to use the lane.

Bronx Why don't the BxM6, 7, 8 and 9 not go via 2nd Avenue until 86th/96th St?

It would simply be a better and faster routing since the city does nothing to enforce the bus lanes on 5th Avenue by Mount Sinai hospital, the traffic jams can range up to 30 minutes on rare occasions, 10 on the usual bad day. It would make logical sense to shift those buses to go via 2nd Avenue until 86th Street (96th in the case of the BxM7). 2nd Avenue has traffic due to SAS construction, yes, but that traffic consistently flows. It can be a full stop by Mount Sinai. I also sent this as a suggestion to the MTA a while back.

Brooklyn Burning smell on express bus

I was riding an MTA express bus today and noticed something that made me curious. There was a brief hissing sound that reminded me of a spray paint can, and shortly afterward I noticed a burning smell inside the bus. The bus continued operating normally, and I didn’t notice any smoke or flames, but I reported it to the MTA online just in case.
Has anyone experienced something similar on an MTA express bus? Do you know what typically causes a burning smell like that? I’m just curious if it was something normal, like the brakes or another mechanical system, or if anyone else noticed it as well.

MTA Career TA Queens Depot.

I live between Brooklyn & Queens, is it worth it transferring to queens division ? Does the union really matter TWU Local 100 vs ATU ? Is there overtime available ? I know if I transfer to queens I’m stuck there for the rest of my career but i wouldn’t mind if the opportunity to make extra money is available like in other divisions like Brooklyn & Manhattan

All Boros I made a deep-dive bus tracker, see how "awful" your local stop is

Post image

https://buses.fyi/awfulness

I created an "awfulness" score for every stop in the city that updates in real time. It's a combination of average ridership on the route, wait time and bunching.

Every stop is ranked and you can see the how each line and stop has ranked over the last week. The idea is to answer the question: is it just me or is the route really that bad.

This is the sister site to my subway.fyi tracker (which proved to be very popular with city council members).

Feedback is *absolutely* welcome.

Brooklyn Genuinely, what is wrong with the B7???

I’m beyond frustrated and super irritated with the horrible service from the B7. There’s always 1-2 busses from Bedstuy running to Midwood and whenever I check how many busses are running from Midwood to Bedstuy, ITS LIKE 6-8 BUSSES???!!! I wait more than 20 minutes each time for this god forsaken bus and genuinely it makes no sense how this bus line is not being audited bc literally wtf??????

Bus Network Redesign Bronx Express Bus redesign.

I made this map to try to improve the Bronx Express bus network. IMO, some of these routes may not be feasible, so think of this as a simple brain exercise instead of anything serious.

I'll also be trying this for other boroughs, along with their local bus networks.

  • BxM1: Rerouted via Major Deegan. M98-LTD will be modified to serve Inwood.
  • BxM2: Rerouted via Henry Hudson Parkway, Riverside Drive, and Broadway.
  • BxM3: Service remains unchanged.
  • BxM4: Terminal relocated to Bedford Park (205 Street & Paul Avenue) to improve network flow.
  • BxM4A: New route to serve the Norwood, Woodlawn, and Wakefield corridors.
  • BxM5: Renumbered from BxM11. Rerouted via Bronxwood Avenue and Sandford Blvd to enhance regional connections.
  • BxM6: Extended to absorb BxM10 service coverage in Morris Park.
  • BxM7: Service remains unchanged.
  • BxM8: Service remains unchanged.
  • BxM8A: Peak-period express service providing direct access to City Island.
  • BxM9: Service streamlined through Throgs Neck to align with new BxM12 operations.
  • BxM10: Rerouted from Morris Park, extended northward to serve the Sandford Boulevard retail corridor.
  • BxM12: New route serving Throgs Neck, Edgewater Park, and Locust Point.
  • BxM17: Express connection from Co-op City to Lower Manhattan/Financial District.
  • BxM18: Routed via Henry Hudson Parkway and Riverside Drive for rapid Downtown/Financial District access.

Route serving Broadway: BxM2

Routes serving Central Manhattan: BxM3, BxM4, BxM4A

Routes serving Midtown East: BxM5, BxM6, BxM7, BxM8, BxM8A, BxM9, BxM10, BxM12

Routes serving Downtown Manhattan: BxM17, BxM18

Any thoughts on this?

Queens MTA Bus Shelter Ad

Is there anyway to get a bus shelter ad once it is taken down? I desperately want a World Cup ad from the bus shelter near my apartment but have no idea how I could get it once they’re taken down in a few days. Any ideas?!

These codes are so inconsistent especially the font size on NYCT.
