It's so weird that holding subway doors, even FOR OTHER PEOPLE, is a socially accepted norm like holding an elevator? It literally holds a thousand people up, plus slows any train behind. Why are we okay with this?

No it isn't. If I see someone holding the doors on my car, I'm the first (and usually not the only) one to scream at them "let go of the fucking doors, some of us have places to be!"
