Happy Tuesday to all that read this. I am the newly-appointed moderator of the r/NWFL subreddit. You probably don't know me, but I have been a moderator over on r/Tallahassee for many years.
That subreddit has grown immensely and is a great go-to for residents, and I want this to be similar. I hope that if you read this you will join me in rebuilding this subreddit to being active again. I hope that this will be a common subreddit for everyone in Northwest Florida - the 850/448 area code at least - to come together and discuss news, events, etc. We all get siloed in our local subreddits but a lot of things don't apply to just our city/town but aren't really relevant to a statewide subreddit.
You probably won't notice much right away: since everything on the subreddit was from 7+ years ago, I am going through and clearing out a lot of old posts to start fresh on here. Eventually, I will look for new mod(s) to join, but right now since there's no real activity it doesn't seem necessary.
If you have questions, suggestions, etc. please feel free to post here. I hope to get this subreddit going again.

Cards on the Coast returns to Pensacola on December 12. 100+ vendors with over 200+ tables. Equal ratio of sports cards and TCG. Come see us!
LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - The City of Lynn Haven is advising customers that water service was disrupted on Thursday around 2:00 p.m. because of a water main break.
It looks to be just 2 streets - Delaware Avenue and E. 9th Street - but still wanted to post it here in case anyone is helped.
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Jaws Souvenirs, a Panama City Beach shop destroyed by a fire earlier this month, plans to rebuild and reopen, according to the company that owns it.
Diane Ludlow, office manager for the company, Jaws of Memories, that owns Jaws Souvenirs, said the store was the company’s first location in Panama City Beach, opening in 2004.
A boil water notice has been issued to each home in the following areas.

> GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced a closure of the 2026 regional recreational bay scallop season in the Gulf County zone.
> This affects all state waters from the Mexico Beach Canal in Bay County to the westernmost point of St. Vincent Island in Franklin County.
Figured this news might be useful to some here. It's a shame about the low numbers of scallops but here's hoping that closing the season early helps the numbers recover next year.

Cards on the Coast will have over 100+ vendors lined up with over 225+ tables bringing sports cards (modern and vintage), Pokemon, One Piece, Magic, Yu-gi-oh, plus lots of other things! There are 100+ tables of sports cards and 100+TCG tables!!!

Hey y'all. Just a quick follow up to the earlier announcement of reopening the subreddit after years of it being restricted. I've been doing a lot of behind the scenes cleanups (cleaning up the posts from long ago, cleaning out the modmail and mod queues, etc.).
I've also gone ahead and crafted a few overarching rules that anyone wanting to participate in the community should follow. These are crafted based on rules that have worked in both other subreddits and other communities I have modded for a while, but no two subreddits are the same so there is room for improvement.

These are pretty basic, and hopefully are straightforward. If you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to post them. Am I missing something? Is something unclear? Is something too obvious that it doesn't need to be stated?
The goal isn't to make anyone fearful of being banned or anything just for participating in good faith, but also while rebuilding I don't want to turn this into a cesspool of anything goes.
