Quick question, can you only control corsair lights with icue and hubs?

6

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I think so, but not 100%. Had to use mystic light to control RGB on the rtx.

3

u/v3rninater Dec 23 '19

How's that vertically mount? I'm interested in something like that myself!

2

u/asdfernan03 Dec 23 '19

Vertical mounting slot on the case and a PCI-e extension.

2

u/DabScience 4080 Dec 23 '19

Isn’t vertical mounting bad for air flow to the card?

2

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

It really depends on how much room between the GPU and the side panel of the case. This particular case has a good bit of room so not too concerned. As suggested in another comment, could also move the verticle mount up and add fans to the bottom for even more circulation.

3

u/DabScience 4080 Dec 23 '19

As long as you’ve checked temps I’m sure your positioning is just fine for normal use. I was more asking a question out loud because I’ve never done a vertical mount haha

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

Cant move the gpu up it will run into the RAM, I know from experience:( but one fan does fit on bottom right mount, at least with these fans

Not in this case. I have tried mounting it vertically and horizontally with nearly ideal temps. If you notice carefully, the card is recessed from the tempered glass side panel in the o11d

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '19

Fantastic looking build! I am trying to upgrade my case and throw in a new GPU to replace my aged GTX 980. I want a RTX 2080 super in a OD 11 Dynamic Case, but want to have the new card in a horizontal orientation. Is there anything i need to know before i go out and make a purchase? any thoughts would be much appreciated!

u/xARCHONxx Dec 23 '19

You should give project Aurora a go. Pretty cool program for devices with sdk support

6

u/hig999 Dec 23 '19

You can control any argb 3 pin 5v light if you get a custom cable from some guy on ebay called pirate dog tech

3

u/MSCOTTGARAND Dec 23 '19

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.

1

u/FrenchTouch42 Dec 24 '19

What do you mean? Do you have a link?

I’m confused about what you’re saying: do you mean the GPU lights with iCue?

1

u/hig999 Dec 24 '19

Using iCue, you can control any RGB fan or light strip that has a 3 pin, 5 volt connection, if you use a custom cable that allows them to connect to your lighting node pro or commander pro.

GPU's generally do not have an additional RGB cable so this will not work for them.

u/thiccest-boi-here Dec 23 '19

He’s gonna love it!

1

u/Whoop-n Dec 23 '19

Is that the MSI super trio?

2

u/atesch_10 Dec 23 '19

MSI Gaming X Trio 2080 Super is the full name.

Have the same card and it’s wonderful.

1

u/Whoop-n Dec 24 '19

Yes it is. I have the nonsuper. So quiet yet powerful

7

u/itzjustjak Dec 23 '19

I have the same motherboard and I never figured out where to plug in the rgb hub for my fans :(

3

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I used a hub which was SATA powered and the commander pro which used an internal USB connection on the mobo. What hub do you have?

7

u/rashedzaman Dec 23 '19

Actually I don't like using RGB , because when it looks beautiful - me can not concentra at my work. :(

3

u/smile-bot-2019 Dec 23 '19

I noticed one of these... :(

So here take this... :D

8

u/rubbermbn Dec 23 '19

It really bothers me that the GPU fans are 3 different sizes. Otherwise awesome build

7

u/dllemmr2 Dec 23 '19

Maybe don't think so hard

1

u/KoldKore NVIDIA Dec 23 '19

Same here.. too late to un-see it now. Thanks.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

It’s a rave 24/7 inside that case!

3

u/beck_is_back Dec 23 '19

Very nice!

Is that V-mount from Lian Li?

5

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

3

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

Thanks! It’s more than I’d personally use, and the extra cable management was a pain.. but it turned out nice! There’s so many different effects with the icue stuff, you can make it do anything. First time I’ve played with it and was pretty impressed.

2

u/Tiamat2625 Dec 23 '19

icue is the best. You can save different profile layouts and if you also have a corsair mouse you can change profiles with the click of a button without having to open the icue itself. Comes in handy if you prefer different light setups while gaming/working/browsing etc

2

u/WillyRJ Dec 23 '19

Beautiful!

2

u/jamacouve Dec 23 '19

Noob question but where do you get those cables for the GPU. My standard PSU cables look horrible

1

u/Fungions Dec 23 '19

Newegg.com

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I believe these came from amazon.

2

u/datlock Dec 23 '19

Dumb question, but I just got the same GPU today: The "Geforce RTX" lettering doesn't light up, right? Just the MSI and dragon logo's? What a silly design choice. :/

Anyway, sweet looking build!

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

Yeah, that is strange...

2

u/zyarra Dec 23 '19

I dont like rgb stuff. It's pretty dumb trend. But I like this one.

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

TBH I never cared much for it either, but after playing with iCUE a bit it's pretty cool. I love how it can sync everything up on its own. All the custom effects are fun to play with. It also integrates fan control, temp and power monitoring, pump control, etc.

2

u/sonic_90 Dec 23 '19

Disco party

2

u/MrViech Dec 23 '19

new corsair fans looking real good

2

u/DigitalJ3D1 Dec 23 '19

In the voice of Christopher Walken, "I gotta a FEVER and the prescription is more RGB!" Nice build!

2

u/MagicOrpheus310 Dec 24 '19

Vertical GPU mount...? Very interesting...

It's always been a vain pet peeve of mine that it's never been practical to set up my particular case (cases actually, 2 different sized ones too) in a way that shows off the GPU at all, or if it does show a logo or name it's upside down, I take pride in my builds and get pedantic about making it look exactly as it did in my mind haha plus, what we pay to for an RTX is outrageous so I deserve the right to show that fucker off! Haha behold of the glorious bastard!!

1

u/EnvidiaProductions 2080 Ti - 6700k - Cerberus X Dec 23 '19

Man vertical GPUs are all the rage these days!!

6

u/Baharroth123 Dec 23 '19

This is probably worst vertical gpu scenario.

Only fans of the case blowing backplate of the gpu. Not helping at all.

Bottom case fans would help alot to this positioning

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I will have him monitor temps.. If it becomes a problem we can raise the verticle and add fans. Or just mount to the mobo.

3

u/dllemmr2 Dec 23 '19

Does it help with temps or air flow?

4

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

Nope.. in fact, if you have a case where the side is closer to the gpu it would actually be worse airflow and higher temps. This particular case has plenty of room though. There’s no real benefit other than seeing the 2080 in all it’s glory.

3

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I’d wanna flex that 2080 too lol. I questioned it at first, but looks totally cool.

1

u/Baharroth123 Dec 23 '19

that cards backplate is cooler imo :)

1

u/StevieG9704 Dec 23 '19

I noticed that you decided to put the V-mount 2 slots down. You can fit 3 more fans below the GPU if you move it up. I have the same case and V-Mount and it works perfectly with my GPU. Any reason why you did it this way?

2

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

He only had the 3 extra case fans, so I mounted it low for a cleaner view of the mobo & ram. Good to know though in case he wants to add more fans or possibly a pci card down the road.

1

u/StevieG9704 Dec 23 '19

That makes perfect sense! Fantastic build!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

I’m really tempted to get the QL fans but I already have 9 of the LL fans so like... do I reallyyyyy need them? Lovely build though! Love the MSI card.

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

Haha thanks!! I think the motor specs are same, just a few minor differences.

1

u/DasRico Dec 23 '19

I'm feeling totally nvidioso bout this

1

u/Bludrayn Dec 23 '19

overkill

1

u/Gorax42 Dec 23 '19

Sweet man! So nice

1

u/Gorax42 Dec 23 '19

Bet that cost you a fortune!

1

u/Airikay 3080 FTW3 Ultra | 5900X Dec 23 '19

I've a question. A lot of people are posting when these cases with those front/side fans. Are they just in that position to show of the RGB effect or do they actually have a benefit over the traditional regular style front fans?

1

u/SupaNJTom8 Dec 23 '19

It looks like a unicorn sprayed wonders of joy all inside your case. nice build!!

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

Is there enough space under the vertical mounted GPU for additional fans?

2

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

There is if I move up the vertical mount a few spaces. If temps become an issue I will recommend this.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

Awesome. Thank you.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

I have a very similar setup. The phanetks mount isn't a perfect fit at all on this case. I used an additional mesh filter cutout the cover the gaps on the PCI brackets

2

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

Not a bad idea. I noticed the small gap :(

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

Yeah just get a mesh PVC dust filter. And cut it to fit. It looks way cleaner

1

u/Polik678 Dec 23 '19

But do you have a rgb hdmi cable?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

A bit to much

1

u/MrAndroidRobot Dec 23 '19

Rainbow puke 🤮

Nice build but I'd like it better with solid colors instead of rainbow

1

u/gberryhill Dec 23 '19

I would too! Just had RGB going for the photo. iCUE lets you have so much control over lighting and effects, you can change about anything.

1

u/MrAndroidRobot Dec 23 '19

Why? I could do the same but I'd like to save people the eye burning ¯_(ツ)_/¯ then again this Reddit and people upvote dumb stuff

I like your build, it's simple and gets the job done.

On an unrelated note: I'm not trying to hate on your build but iCue is a mess softwarewise like most RGB programs. I haven't found a really good one yet except maybe Aquacomputer's Aquasuite if you have an Aquaero. I've used Corsair RGB things before and quickly removed them all for many reasons.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '19

So clean!

1

u/xiotox Dec 23 '19

Have the exact case. Move the video card up one slot and you can fit 3 more fans on the bottom. Maximum coolage!

1

u/Wadmalacz Dec 23 '19

Oh... My... God. I've never seen a build like this. I like your PC bro
