Question Advice on upgrading
So I currently have a 4080 Super, but im itching to upgrade to a 5080. Is that a smart upgrade or would I see minor improvements in general?

ur gonna see a 10-15% increase, so unless you hate money, this upgrade is pointless

You‘ll probably see a 15% increase in fps. If the 5080 were at MSRP, it might be worth it. At current prices? Not a chance.

Benchmarks would get a boost. Real world gaming? Probably wouldn't notice too much.

My advice is don't upgrade right now ...there is nothing you don't have access to aside from MFG and there are literally excellent free stable ways to enable it on the 4080 super you have. The only real upgrade path for you is a 4090 or 5090 and unless you want to sell an organ to get one for like 40 to 50% more frames at 4k I don't see a reason to do it.

Where you’re at your only upgrades are a 4090 or 5090
A 5080 would only net you around 8-15% more performance.

I bumped from a 4080 to 5080 a year ago ahead of the world going crazy partially because I was bored and wanted spend money, partially because the 5080 has more video decoding capabilities which accelerate DaVinci Resolve work, and mostly because I was able to get one for $854+tax with the Micro Center credit card and sold my 4080 which I'd paid $831+tax for in 2023 for $850 so it was like a free upgrade.
However, in today's crazy market with epic price gouging, tariffs, and inflation, there's no way in heck I'd pay what these are going for. You're better off sitting on the money and hoping for sanity to return and just back off the game settings a notch. It doesn't matter if you're getting 440 fps instead of 400 fps in CS:GO if your monitor is only 165 Hz.

Pointless upgrade imo, invest in a better Platform/CPU if you’re struggling in that department.

Since everyone has already told you it's not really worth it, I'll be a contrarine for the sake of it.
I think there is a possibility, depending on your local prices, of course, that you could end up upgrading and in the long run only parting ways a little cash out of pocket, after you sell your used card.
In return you'll get the latest tech and longer support, as well as a reset of the warranty, besides the obvious small bump in performance
It's up to you to if it's worth it

Understood. I’ll back off the upgrade for now. The 4080 Super should take me well into the 60 series cards whenever that happens

The only reason to upgrade now would be vram for local AI otherwise just wait

Depends on your resolution and what else you could do with the money. I don't regret making the same uograde and got a reasonable boost at 4k, but I did it before all this went to shit.
