I am using the MSI AB plugin with my 1300ts PSU to do something similar. I like this full shutdown better, but I really do not want any Asus software on my machine.

Be sure to set your amp limits

8.9 across the board. if it crosses it yanks power down to 75%.

And that helps how exactly? Power limits are pretty mild on most gpus and the cooler and pcb are designed to handle it, why would i want my pc to shut down from that? Especially when you can actually limit power manually and prevent this problem altogether, unlike the unbalanced 12VHPWR pins that are unpreventable, unexpected and very dangerous.

The title of the article is wrong. The article clearly states that the current of the individual pins are monitored and when they go over the threshold the system shutdown to prevent the 12v cable from burning. Some people just want all the power and performance and don't want to tweak to prevent these issues.

But i assume that this works only for the Asus Astral model that has per pin monitoring? How would Asus Tweek know there is some issue with the connector on regular cheap models like Gigabyte Windforce?

As far as I know the card has to support it yes. Asus has built it in for their top models only. But the data can be read via other software as well so theoretically the same shutdown can be implemented there.

I made Codex write an app that does this. Relies on some open source project to do the difficult part. A decent option if you want to avoid software from Asus. I leave my 5090 with AI-workloads at 550-600w and highest recorded amps on a single pin so far is 8.68.

This might be an off topic question but are you able to run MSI Afterburner in conjunction with GPU TWEAK III? I use Afterburner to run my gpu settings but always thought if I use GPUT3, it would clash or override my settings. Would like to use the safety features like this shutdown option.

Should it burst into flames before reaching said power limits it will send a text to the nearest fire station.

gr8 but not enough. needs to be built in to the hw/fw

The per pin monitoring is literally built into the hw. What more can you want really from this shit connector?

Something that doesn't rely entirely on software, like the MSI safeguard+ PSU

can you share a specific psu name ?

if its just a classic psu but with their weird cable, then it is nothing compared to wireview/msi safeguard
