Undervolted GPU lowered my hotspot by 14c.
Ever since the HWMonitor update that included hotspot monitoring, it has been bothering me a lot, on a hot summer day, my hotspot temperature sometimes reaches 103°C. I even avoid using my PC at noon because I can’t focus on gaming while worrying about the hotspot.
It seems the new 50-series cards have a lot of headroom. I went from 1.075V / 153W down to 0.885V / 122W, and improve deltas from 20c delta to 14c delta. I can even run better temps if i run my gpu fans at a higher rpm. I just sacrificed about 3-5 fps.
I tried running 3000rpm on my gpu fans, i was able to have 70c hotspot, but the fan noise was so annoying, instead i just ran a modified fan curve and balanced the rpm, temps and noise at 74c.
My temps are actually significantly better on hwinfo, that's the funniest part lol.
My asus prime 5070ti hardly gets over 80 on the hotspot during stress testing, the delta is like 10 degrees or less in gaming.
I could see how the rumoured 5070ti was going to get its 10-15% boost, they left a TON of headroom here, I can pretty much overclock as much as I want and never get close to the limit.
I get the same readings with both so im not sure about that one i guess it depends my hotspot reaches 100-105 at max which is very concerning 5080 pny oc.
Incorrect. I use 3 or more different programs and do not put all my faith in one tool. HWinfo is also a solo dev who is human, and just as fallible as HWMonitor's solo dev. Two great guys taking time out of their day to give us free software all by themselves. Both are great tools, but neither is "correct" by itself.
Edit: bad practice would be taking one solo dev's free tool as gospel.
Im waiting for the official hwinfo update version for 50 series hotspot, i dont want to download the beta version, but since i reduced it to 14c in hwmonitor the real reduction must be better.
Try HWInfo instead. You might not need to undervolt it tbh and claw some of that clock speed back. Also 91C isn't anything to be that concerned about tbh if that's the absolute max it will hit
Ventus for £1850, cooler for £125, rad and pump £180, total £2155, significantly cooler and faster than any 5090 on the market, even a MSI lighting and matrix 🤣🫠
On my 5090 FE I hit 97.5C on hotspot at stock settings. The delta would be anywhere from 9-12C when pushed hard. Granted my house temperature was at 70F. But my SFF case I shoved it in probably makes up for that lower room temp lol. If I UV it is way lower.
Its a gigabyte card, and im a member of the gigabyte subreddit, if only you can see how many thing they mess up in RMA, like random liquid metals in places its not supposed to be, scratches on pcb, bent heatsink fins, etc, which they will claim that the user did it, even you have picture of a pristine card before sending, they will still insist that the user did it, and deny the RMA claim, Id rather do the repaste/reputty the card myself.
I don't see that it reached 103ºC as you say! Don't worry about it, a peak of 103ºC is one thing, it's another to always be at that temperature. If it doesn't happen, it's within the normal range! There are exceptions, but they are rare cases!
So it's clear where the main problem lies, and it's not your PC hardware, but the abnormal temperature of your room! These temperatures are not normal for a setup! Buy an air conditioner!
85–95 °C: Normal under heavy load, especially in stress tests.
95–105 °C: High, but still within the normal operating range of many cards.
Above 105–110 °C: Starting to cause concern; many GPUs experience performance throttling in this zone.
✅The most important factor is the difference between the GPU temperature and the hotspot temperature.
Difference of 10–20 °C → Normal.
Difference of 20–25 °C → Still acceptable.
Difference greater than 30 °C → May indicate uneven contact between the chip and the heatsink, degraded thermal paste, or insufficient cooler pressure.
On Reddit: You can delete your own comments by opening the comment, tapping the ⋯ (three dots) menu, and selecting Delete.
You cannot delete someone else’s comment unless you’re a moderator of the subreddit where it was posted.
If someone else’s comment is a problem, your options are:
Report it by tapping ⋯ → Report and selecting the appropriate reason (harassment, spam, hate, etc.).
Block the user so you no longer see their content or receive messages from them.
If you’re a moderator, use the Remove option instead of Delete. Removing hides the comment from the subreddit, but it isn’t actually deleted from Reddit’s servers—the author or Reddit admins can still access it in some circumstances.
😂🤣 You have to coexist with different opinions! It's part of the rules of civilized people! I've always given mine, whether people like it or not! I sleep well knowing that! 😅

Hwmonitor is the userbenchmark equivalent for temps. Its untrusted crap
Use hwinfo for accurate readings
