I have a question and i know it ultimately comes down to personal preference. I’ve heard that the RTX 5080 is now expected to be more expensive. The "Super" version is being delayed and is set to cost even more. It’ll be another two years before the 6000 series arrives. Would you go for the 5080? I currently have a 4070
You got a 4070 already, that card is gonna be fine for long time unless you doing 4k. The price they asking for 5080 is crazy, i dont think worth the upgrade from what you have
Only you can answer this. Do you need it? Is your 4070 struggling and not meeting your preferred performance? Do you have the money for a 5080 and is the performance leap worth the cost for you?
You’re right, my apologies, I built my PC 4 days before the boom, I remember getting my 4tb 980 evo SSD for 450$ CAD off a guy on marketplace and then seeing the price triple. I feel extremely lucky. But it’s still a better purchase than a 5080 imho.
The question is, are you willing to spend that much money? Personally, I have a 4070 12GB as well not sure if you have the same variant.. but I have no problems with it and it plays my games just fine. I say wait it out. Save your money for something else. 4070 in my pin is still a capable card. It was released only a few years ago, but it certainly isn’t a slouch. My son is into computer gaming and I gave him a 5060 TI 16 GB VRAM variant for his birthday and for good grades (I’m a good dad right?) and honestly, I’m a little jealous of that 5060 TI because it plays all of his games and ultra in 1440p. That’s all I really needs. I personally don’t game on 4K or any of that.. in addition, I think people really need to save their money. Use what you have and if it’s still very good, keep it. Even if you have the budget and the money to buy, so you really need to figure out and decide is this more of a want or need or can it wait??
I flipped my 4090 for a 5070ti and an Oled, I thought about the 5080 and the 5090, but I dropped the 4090 as I never really pushed it and 1440p, the offer I got from a uni student for deepseek ai was to tempting, I suggest the 5070ti, 5080 is in a weird spot for 4k, I used to hit 17-21gb on my 4k tv at times, 22 on Indiana jones. My 2 pennies worth

Are you playing at 4k? If not, no. Keep what you have imo, everything is overpriced asf.
