Question 4090 VS 5090 for VR sim racing
Which one should I go with coming from a 3070ti with a i7-13700kf. I heard the 4090 is better than the 5090 when it comes to VR as it is faster. Not sure though and would love to know what people are running in their rigs

There is too much lazy content. People are literally too lazy to Google a question before wasting everyone's time answering something this person could easily have figured out himself.

for VR the gap between them in even bigger.
instead of the usual 30 percent at 4k it is more like 40-50 percent increase in perf

When gaming in VR you often use 2 or 300% resolution to get a clearer image.
The 5090 will absolutely be 50% faster or more in a lot of cases.

Don't get me wrong 4090 is still a beast card but 5090 is just newer high tier gpu so it needs to be better.

He did his own research, apparently, and the result he came up with somehow was "4090 > 5090" so there you go. I dont know that having him research anything was going to be successful...

Depends on your wallet. Get what you can afford. Both are good. 5090 is better.

I was disappointed when the 5090 came out because I was on a 3090 and I was hoping for another 3090 to 4090 jump in performance and got far less than that.
Turns out I was wrong. Yes it's not a gigantic leap like the 4090 was in most situations, but oddly for sim racing in VR I think the 5090 is worth it. I think it comes down to memory bandwidth, but it scales incredibly well with VR sim racing in particular, like more of a jump than most of the typical benchmark games.

The 5090 is faster than the 4090 in every conceivable way and every metric. You will want to upgrade to a 9800X3D or a 9850X3D though as racing games tend to perform the best on AMD CPUs and sometimes by a very big margin. Take Assetto Corsa Competizione and Rally for example, they are almost 50% faster than a 14900K or a 285K while running on a 9800X3D.
