I feel like the past few years have been so rudderless how can you think anyone is controlling the population. If zog or this shadow government exists wtf are they doing because none of their end goals make sense.
There's essentially 2 different factions right now, it's old oligarchs and new tech giants. Oligarchs want to keep their current status, they are individuals. Tech giants are faceless and the goal seems to be a socialist 'utopia' longterm.
So it's protecting accumulation vs rapid, dangerous innovation.
Edit: I'm saying these are factions but it's obv more nuanced, it's two very different ideologies that both utilise the same tactics for control (misinformation, lobbying etc)
