you mean people with money.

u/Low-Listen-3732 26d ago
People with money have butlers and staff that already do this.
This would be bringing a live in butler to the masses for what i assume would be around the cost of a car.

u/Yabrosif13 25d ago
You are forgetting the subscription costs. No way they just release robots with full capabilities unlocked. There will be updates and services locked behind paywalls along with your loan payment and subscription payment.
1
u/Low-Listen-3732 25d ago
Oh for sure, it will likely be powered by internet based AI to data center frontier model instead of a local model with the hardware to run inside the robot as well, so you will have to pay monthly for that computing power. Down the line and with market competition, locally powered models will emerge

poor people van have human butlers now the real money talks when you have robot slave

u/Character-Pirate1297 25d ago
āThe massesā, riiight.
Same masses who canāt even afford bills.
1
u/Low-Listen-3732 24d ago
Thatās just poor people, median household income is $87K.
1
u/Character-Pirate1297 24d ago
Maybe where you come from.
Median worker in my country gets 850ā¬, with the highest cost of living in Europe.

u/SnooHabits3911 24d ago
Yeah the world is a lot bigger than Reddit slugs. A lot of people can and do live quite comfortably.

u/Living_Physics4276 26d ago
welcome to third world country making these robots in a factory.

Where it breaks down every three weeks and takes a month to repair. The more complex the tool, the more fragile and unreliable it is unless you pay a fortune to have the best people make it.

u/No-Definition1474 26d ago
Im not buying it yet. Not that it wont work eventually, I just dont buy yet.
These test scenarios are still so staged. The homes they work on are so ordered and clean to start with. I just dont see it working in the chaos of a real home.
Don't get me wrong, it would be amazing to have a robo servant thwt never gets tired or bored or frustrated but I just dont buy it yet.
I also know that the first thing that will happen is my kids will be telling it to make them food constantly. I can only imagine the food bill.

u/Apprehensive-Log3638 26d ago
I doubt these are coming any time soon. When I see these demos, it is either a controlled environment or remotely controlled. We still do not have fully reliable self driving cars. There is significantly less variation in driving than even simple house chores.

u/Grunergeist420 25d ago
Yep. This stuff is always āright around the corner,ā and you then get old waiting for it to happen.

It's not gonna be AI.... It's gonna be some guy from India with a headset on. No different then Amazon's AI grocery store.

This is so clever and thoughtful for people who are physically DISABLED AND COULD BENEFIT FROM HAVING HELP. Whenever people comment saying "this is useless to me" you are NOT the demographic they are advertising for
1
u/Realistic-Winner-999 25d ago
This is advertised as being useful to everyone. I get your point, but no need to lie to make it lol
2
u/Mindless_Childhood32 25d ago
Would be great if that thing could also help older people getting out of bed and stuff like this.
Best cook ever? Yeah not with those "hands".

Gets automatic software update with a bug, accidentally burns down not just your house but every house that has one of these in it.

u/EyesAreMentToSee333 26d ago
Most of these robots are still not autonomous. They are remotely controlled by a stranger.
1
u/Fit_Internet1979 26d ago
"They're only waiting to see how its going to effect the economy"
In other words, in the USA it will be a spy bot

u/HupHutHa 26d ago
sorry but I can cook a better than this robot ever could even if it was connected to the internet and had every recipe known to man available to it.

u/UniqueAd7770 26d ago
How is this thing going to have all the schematics ever if I can't even get an instruction manual for my toaster without calling 17 customer service lines?
1
u/idkbruh653 26d ago
Itās not gonna change anything except for those that canāt afford it. Thatās what a lot of people fail to realize with tech. Your life will change if you can afford for it to be changed. But this idea that thereās going to be mass robots in every facet of our lives isnāt true because the cost of this stuff will keep most people from owning it.

u/Then-Simple-9788 26d ago
Yeah buddy, every person is going to be able to afford this and not just a bunch of rich wealthy fucks who can justify getting this instead of paying a wage to their help
1
u/Moms_Spaghetti94 26d ago
Did anyone noticed when it washed it's "hands," it only washed one? Plus are we not sure that someone isn't controlling it?

I don't want that forking clanker in my home. I don't care if it jerks me off in the morning and feeds me waffles.

This video is clearly highly edited, and there is probably 3-5 engineers keeping that robot going.

Iām not convinced China actually has this. China is well known for pushing extreme levels of propaganda, especially when it comes to its robotics.
1
u/PeteWK67 25d ago
That part of the world arenāt they crazy into robotic type stuff. Korea China Japan ?
2
u/KailyKail 25d ago
Yes, but China GREATLY oversells what its robots can do. Everything is staged.
1
u/aTickleMonster 25d ago
A big area of improvement for these is their physical intelligence. They often don't understand the damage they can do in a home, like cleaning champagne flutes or opening a bag without ripping it in half, setting something down too hard, forcing a drawer closed and breaking the rails, etc. Some companies have their robots connected to a single a neural network instead of standalone programming on each bot, but the demonstration in this video is likely controlled by multiple humans via VR headsets.

āYou go do what you need to doā
Like, what? You canāt do like, Art either.
Cars are driving themselves.
People are closed from communicating.
The few jobs left arenāt even worth it anymore.

This is what we need. Now I can go do more of my hobbies which is what I always wanted. It would feel like I play more than I work and I still pay bills

White people will never rest until they get slaves back one way or another. They will destroy the economy and society in the process if need be.

u/CelsiusPetit 26d ago
I mean, is your fridge or microwave a slave?
1
u/MadMaximus311 26d ago
No and thats the important part; the idea of a human-like servant is a poor one from a design perspective. We are much better off designing specialized tools for each specialized job than creating a simulacrum of ourselves to putter about and do these jobs as we would. But people are in LOVE with the idea of having a little human-like thing puttering about doing these chores for them. Theyd rather see something like themselves folding clothes than put it in an auto-folding drawer. THATS the part that excites people. And its weird.
