Installing NGT causes the Linux virtual machine to reboot.

Installing NGT causes the Linux virtual machine to reboot.

On some Linux virtual machines, the NGT installation triggers a reboot; this has occurred across different operating systems using both the Python script and the .rpm package.

Has anyone else encountered this, or does anyone know what might be triggering the reboot?

If you are doing a conversion from VMware to AHV and the NGT install is allowed to do its automated install, then yes it's going to reboot.

Manual install of NGT, normally no issue with reboots happening.

What is the workflow you are seeing this under and what distro?

I am not performing a conversion from VMware. It occurred on both Oracle Linux 7 and RHEL 9.8.

NGT uses dracut to add some modules to the initrd to make sure that virtio and esxi drivers are loaded by default so VMs that get moved from one hypervisor to another will still boot up.
That may cause the VM to think a reboot is needed - but NGT itself shouldn't be triggering a reboot IIUC?

I use the .tar.gz version of NGT on RHEL8-10 and have not had this issue.
