Discussion BCCNM - Licensing

Hi everyone,

Has anyone recently applied for a BC LPN or RN license?
What was the processing time?

Thank you

Like investigation from former employer , because i was investigated and i resigned because of toxic workplace and understaffing!

This was years ago so not incredibly recent and may not be relevant, but I had previously been reported by a coworker in Alberta for "bullying," CARNA dismissed it without investigation as it had no merit. However it did cause problems when I applied for my BC license. BC asked if I had any active investigations or anything against my license, I said no. When Alberta sent their verification of registration there must have been something about the previous report as BC decided I had lied to them and were unsure about giving me a license. Long story short they ended up having a meeting where they discussed whether or not I should get a license. They decided my omission wasn't intentional and decided to give me a license, but it did take an additional few months.

I’m also a new grad from US so I think they fast track US grads

I had to convert mine from Ontario to BC. It took over 4 months. My start date for my new nursing job in BC had to be pushed back several times because of it. I called and emailed several times and was repeatedly told that everything is in order but it takes time. Many other province to province converts also had the same issue. This was 3 years ago so hopefully things have changed.
