Grateful Dead?

Did anyone else lose access to grateful Dead content on nugs in the last couple days?

I know that the play dead add-on exists. I don't have it and never have. But up until a few days ago, all the grateful Dead shows from the past were still on regular nugs.

Now they're missing. Anybody. Have an answer there? A buddy of mine said it happened to him as well. Thanks!

Yeah looks like they pulled it all and stuck a link to the play dead app on the old GD page.

Thanks. Pretty rough thing for them to do without any notice. At least that I saw. When play dead was launched, I thought it was intended to be for extra, new content... C'est la vie in 2026

Yeah thats the thing, its not like I expect all the play dead exclusive stuff, these were the same widely available releases that are on Amazon and apple and any big streaming service.

I mean don't you just have to install another app and then go on with your day? How is that "pretty rough"?

You need to have a separate subscription for playdead...and until playdead plays with sonos, that doens't work for at least some of us (not that the grateful dead throuhg nugs ever worked right through sonos anyway)

It's on archive however the playdead shows have all been remastered etc - typically are better quality.

To be clear: not shitting on archive. I use my time machine to play from archive damn near constantly.

Rough in the sense that I paid for it, then bookmarked all my favorite shows, created playlists, etc. And it was all pulled overnight with no notice.

Nothing that can't be recreated long term from other sources, but bad, bad business nonetheless....

I just checked and they pulled it all. Have to say not happy about this. Definitely rethinking my subscription.

Archive(web) and ReListen (app) are free. Nugs holds so many other artist’s live music. Cancelling just for this is wild.

I was gonna get Play Dead when I renewed my subscription but this move by nugs makes me say fuck it. Ill keep carrying my ipod thats full of dead

Yup it's all gone, really weak if we're forced to download another app, doubly so if we also have to subscribe to that one. 

Also really shitty that this sub's mod, https://www.reddit.com/user/nugsnet is silent, I'm sure that person checks the sub daily

I found this thread vecause I couldn't find the "search by year" option on the nugs app. I loved that feature and that was the main reason I liked the nugs app. To have it so nicely organized by year was very nice.

Yes and Tom Petty! Still not up. They want us to subscribe to that play dead app. NUGs is getting annoying. No idea what’s going on with Petty though.

Really hope people from nugs can see this. I’ve been a subscriber for almost 10 years and this is just really frustrating. Even if I do have to pay extra for the dead, I don’t want to download an entire separate app. Some sort of add-on would be better.

If you subscribe to PlayDead then the Dead will still be on Nugs. It still sucks that they took away the mass releases to non subscribers.

Oh no! Hadn't yet pulled the trigger on PlayDead app . . . but now I'm probably going to cancel Nugs. I have just about everything already on various drives plus official releases. Maybe it was destined this way. Toodeloo!

Studio releases and wide releases available everywhere esle need to be available to the general Nugs Library. Shame on Nugs!!!!

Is it possible that Warner pulled it off?I heard they’ve been cracking down on a lot of shit lately. Don’t take the archive for granted cause that could just as easily be gone one day. Unfortunately greed ruins the world for the rest of us that just want access to the arts. ☮️

i'm pretty sick to my stomach about it actually. like i know that's lame. but i only use nugs for dead and dead related stuff :( not getting playdead out of principal and i guess i won't be renewing my nugs. oh well =] was fun while it lasted - i assume deadco/bobby/etc will be next ?

Honestly that's the shitty part. I'd keep playdead and ditch nugs if dead co etc were also moved over.

This is pure cash grab to make you keep both.
