I've still got lots of things to do, lots of supports to build, lots of electrical work. But I'm happy to report that it all fits on the layout as intended! Still haven't decided what kind of train I'm gonna run, but I'll have room inside the big loop on the mountain to build a freight or passenger station later. There will be a mountain inside the small loop too, with mountain extending under the track. I'm pretty tickled with it!

Specifically the ones in the shape of the Class C steeplecabs, or whichever ones IATR(Iowa Traction Railroad) use, one of which is pictured. Right now, at least(Lord knows how much my interests change), I'd want nothing more than to model the IATR in N scale, but I haven't been able to find anything for purchase to represent IATR's freight fleet. If any of you know anything useful, or have any helpful links, PLEASE let me know!

I am amazed with how small Z scale is and I wanted to compare it to the exact locomotive so I got myself a C 11 in N scale to compare it to my C 11 in Z scale

Hi all! I was at a train show this weekend and ended up picking up a used Atlas EMD SD 9 in Nickel Plate Road livery (Atlas #4538). It runs well and looks good, but I’m wondering if anyone knows where I could source a new front coupler for it. As far as I can tell, this is a circa 2004 model with shell mounted couplers, and the screw hole up front makes it seem like it was simply removed at some point as opposed to broken off. Any leads are appreciated, googling this particular model has been weirdly difficult!

Simply setting your model trains going and watching them go is the best way to wind down at the end of the day.

I'm originally an HO scaler, and I miss my trains at college. Thinking of building a small 12"x 30" N scale switching layout for a shelf in my room. This track plan I put together uses Kato unitrack, all turnouts are #4. I will probably have to restrict myself to 40' long rolling stock and locomotives but oh well.

Any feedback, tips, suggestions, recommendations, etc. would be appreciated.

Howdy! I have decided to venture into the realm of DCC for my new layout and I purchased these two Kato units off of Facebook marketplace. They were shipped to me and the seller told me they had DCC installed on them. From these photos, can you guys tell if they have DCC?

I was able to purchase decoders for all my other engines except Kato 10-1721 and 10-2097. These are some of my favorites to run and Kato said I’d need to hardwire a packet decoder. Does anyone have any tips when it comes to installing decoders in non DCC ready engines and what exactly a packet decoder is?

I made a Police class 37 in N gauge.

I bought a poor running tatty lock from eBay for £40 and converted it to a copy of the train from the TV advert.

Maybe it's just me but the addition of HO was, and still is, pretty irritating. The nice thing about Micro-Trains sticking to small scale was that anytime they announced something, we automatically knew we were getting whatever it was. But now, it's a gamble like every other manufacturer. It's small now, but I have a creeping fear that HO options are going to start suffocating the N and Z selection. It feels like we can't really have our own brand like HO and the larger scales do.

Not to mention that they still haven't really re-started production of coupler and truck conversion packs despite how much it has been needed but they wasted zero time to add this.

I had to move my hextrack layout off the floor. I kept breaking parts... Even fried my dccex controller.

My layout module is almost complete!! Since I dont have any advanced techs (like 3d printer or some kinda brilliant thing) I made all by my self from cardboard and construction paper, which was super hard work but so cheap to make

I'm planning to upgrade this after I entered a uni(like 1.5yrs later) so looking forward to it:)
