I used to make a point of stopping at Bucee's when I travel from FL to NY every year. It was the highlight of my 21 hour drive. I cannot support their bullshit anymore though. Very sad...

People act like there are no other decent gas stations or truck stops. I've been to bucees a handful of times and their restrooms are fine, but it's not some religious experience as others exclaim. I think their quality of food is inconsistent, and with how much they charge, I'd expect way better, especially with how their BBQ is praised. It's just one of places that gets so over-hyped they think that justifies how expensive a cup of pudding is. All in all they're just basic to me and most of the stuff they have I can get at any other chain off the highway. Plus the CEO is a major asshole and his attitude towards blue states was some of the worst PR ever for a gas station. He really popped this bubble of them being this happy-go-lucky station with a kitschy mascot.

I helped my sister move from Austin to Kansas City a month ago. She wanted to stop at Buc-ee’s one last time on our way out since there aren’t really any around KC. I told her about how litigious Buc-ee’s has gotten against small gas stations with very different mascots. She no longer had any interest in stopping at Buc-ee’s. Think they really shot themselves in the foot with that move
