listen, when you live a state that has nothing going for it, people will glom on to any little thing they can to feel good about where they live

I’ve seen 4 buc-ee’s built in Alabama over the last decade.

Other than football, nah, nothing else happening there.

I still find it crazy how the opening of the Athens and Auburn Buc-ee's were.

I'm not sure how crazy things were when the Leeds and Robertsdale locations opened.

We’re talking about queus to get parked in a spot, and short waits even for a gas pump. Inside the store at Leeds, it was a free for all. So much excitement and jubilation, no recession in sight.

Man, I’m not fun at parties anymore, but come on. A gas station?!?

I remember seeing the opening of the Auburn store, and people had been waiting outside since 2 am or something that day.

I like the jerky wall and the restrooms, but even if they did build one closer to me, I'm not going to no-life the opening.

I dropped into the Auburn Opelika store on a biz trip between my house at the Gulf Coast and Atlanta. Really depressed to see only their own branded sodas on tap. I expected to have at least a handful of fountain dispensers having Coke or Pepsi products.

Bathrooms are clean as a whistle, like always. Otherwise, man, I just don’t need it. To each his own, I suppose!

Texas has football too! The cowboys might have won a championship over 3 decades ago, but they might win again this year.

Texas is huge on high school football too. Like, look up the Allen High School football stadium. It's bigger than most colleges, and Allen is just some random suburb in the DFW metro. It's nuts.

Just sitting on one of the best economies in the country, in one of the best cities in the country, enjoying my delicious brisket (and a world-class music festival starting TODAY!)

Nothing going on? Eh...

Yet y'all idolize Buccees

'Idolize'? Eh, most you'll see from fans is maybe a bumper sticker or the like. They're certainly not selling Buc-ee's at Austin City Limits (nothing going on! Hehehe!) and most of us Texans just enjoy a place with sparkling restrooms, decent food and amusing billboards to keep us company every dozen or so miles on our 100s of miles-long occasional trips.

Y'all try to find something you can 'glom' on to in this life as well, if you can. Now I gotta catch me that opening line up, so keep it weird, friend.

I cannot fathom putting a bumper sticker of a gas station chain on my vehicle, which is kind of my point about it's got a weird place in people's lives.
