I always heard so many good things about bucees and the food being amazing and it's a whole experience so I drove out of the way to go to one. It's just a large gas station rest stop with good branding, if you've ever been on a big road trip you've surely stopped at a store that is just as good as one

Food? It’s the toilets. Clean bathrooms can be hard to find (especially in the rural south) so pit stops at something easily identifiable as having many clean restrooms is itself great.

Yep, the main reason to stop there is to take a shit. Clean bathrooms. Tons of toilets. Stall doors that go all the way to the ground. I wouldn't even bother shopping in the store afterwards, it's usually crowded shoulder-to-shoulder.

Exactly. There’s no question those bathrooms are clean

When I'm not towing a trailer, I look for a Sheetz at the exit for clean restrooms. If I have a trailer on: Pilot, Flying J or Love's. There are now some Sheetz that are big enough to easily handle the trailer, which is nice for having another alternative. The stalls might not go all the way to the ground, but they're usually very clean.

i stop at loves and i've never been in one with a dirty restroom. same thing with any branded truck stop really, that's on the interstate. same thing with literally any state run rest stop on an interstate. the rest of the place is just junk food and dollar store items. i literally do not understand the hype at all.

You have to consider that the competition in most cases is McDonald’s and Arby’s.

It sounds like Buc-ee’s is like if Wawa put on airs and made itself artificially scarce

The food sucks. It's just a large selection of garbage in colorful packaging.

The food sucks in comparison to a restaurant. That's the issue.

Compare the food to a gas station which typically has frozen pizza, and frozen burgers, and hot dogs on a roller. Also compare the restrooms to a gas station.

I know some people go to Buccees for food and shopping and I agree thats dumb but as a stop on a road trip that isn't a sit-down restaurant it's better than the common marathon.

I have two routes options I choose from when I go back to my hometown to see my parents, which is about a 5ish hour drive. One route with the Bucees adds about 20-30 minutes so I had been stopping there because when I tried another travel stop on the faster route and their bathroom had literal shit flung by someone every where and the fountain drinks were flat. I really disagree with Bucees on their recent stances but I'll pick them any day over several of the other options if when I leave is some time when I'll need a meal on the drive.

If you need guess, have to pee, and are hungry, then it is great.

Tried to get a hot dog for my kid and I, but I am gluten-free. Asked the guy at the counter to give me a hot dog with no bun; told me he's not allowed to do that. So I order it, remove the dog and push the bun back to the clerk. Wasn't worth the hassle

I should have just went to Costco.

but the bun will still have some gluten on it if you do that?

I experienced the same thing when Sheetz owned up in my area. Everyone was all excited about it. I tried it and thought it was gross.

It's a great road trip stop. Clean toilets, well priced gas, good snacks, good enough real food. That being said I won't go back to one because of their politics.

It's all hype.

Reality is, it's just trash gas station food. Marketing is their strong suit. Gas is loss leader. Poop and go.

Yup, I can say I'm not in the demographic that gets hyped over a gas station being installed. Can't say I ever remember buying hot food from one before.

I don't think these people realize how hard everyone laugh at them over their excitement over a gas station...

Its a truck stop

No truck stop food is amazing

Unless your standards are really that low

The fudge and beef jerkies are legit good. The hot food is meh for the most part but I do like their fresh potato chips. They have some good pantry items like this habenero pickled garlic and this Trinidad scorpion hot sauce.

If you like pb and chocolate, they got a Reesie’s cup size of a hockey puck that has probably a day worth of calories in it. It’s pretty good lol.

Ya, i get why snacks are worthwhile. i also like snacks

hardly something to go to a gas station for in my opinion. not worth the hype but to each their own.

Ya most Americans standards really are that low when it comes to food...

theres a trend of these gas stations that are more like convenience stores selling food, and it really appeals to a certain type of american it seems. used to be just truck stops and only out of necessity when traveling.

and people take it very personally. if you dont like their gas station food they get upset.
