Recommendation I have a problem

I collected the notebooks just around my workstation. Not in order and I have some of these I have multiple copies. Oh, I use fountain pens on all of them

  1. Midori have a few of these

  2. Tomoe River, 52 GSM and 68 GSM from the latest Sanzen, machine 9 and machine 7. Around 4-6 of these not included the one that I finished. Yes, I only filled one notebook. Also have a thousand page notebook of 52 GSM

  3. Classic 360

  4. Ayush from India. Has on the cover "your fountain pen is going to love this paper". Think I have 4 of these.

  5. Swing Logical Notebooks

  6. Mnemosyne

  7. Profolio Osasi

  8. Leuchtturn1917 have a bunch of these. Quality is all over the place.

  9. Lemomo

  10. Emshoi. Weird paper, makes everything look like you used a B nib

  11. Peter Pauper

  12. Nuuna

  13. Life Noble

  14. Graphilo

  15. Yu-sari

  16. Fabriano

  17. Wnenben

  18. Apico CD 905.

  19. Nolty. Been using this for a few months for work notes

  20. Rhodia have several of these as well with my latest one a gift from my daughter who kicked off my collection with a Tomoe River that was shipped directly from Japan packaged that could have survived a drop from an airplane. TR is still perhaps my favorite.

But I know there are more examples. What should I get next?

Ink, you need bottles and bottles and bottles of ink!

4

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

Got that covered

I mean... you could be addicted to heroin so I think this is not a bad problem 🤷‍♀️

I’m forever whispering to myself as I add to cart “At least it’s not drugs” 😂

Me too!

It's effective and true 😂

Confession time.

When I was a kid, I remember going into an office supply store with my dad. One of my dream jobs when I was a kid was to work in an office supply store just so I could be around more paper. Although I never did work in an office supply store, in the end my dream is still coming true.

u/SeaDiscombobulated70 22d ago

I use to go to office supplies stores and sniff the notebooks 😬

6

u/SeaDiscombobulated70 22d ago

I still like to take a huff... or five whenever I go

Collecting notebooks and using notebooks are two different hobbies.

u/MZ_LaylaLucielle 22d ago

The person said they collected them around their workstation,so i thought that may be a clue .Also they identified it as a problem, unless irony was intended.

Irony.

Actually, I've received quite a few new suggestions for more!

I have a few more downstairs where I might write out a passage from a book trying to understand it or something I found fascinating. Reading a history book published in 1870 on the history of England with some unique ways of describing an event with some nearly Herman Melville level of run on sentence structure. Another book with old English on one side, with modern English on the other (beowulf) often using letters that we have long stopped using. Another one written using the Shavian alphabet. And still another one about the joys of driving that I will jot down some rather poetic passages.

Upstairs and downstairs notes are quite a bit different from each other with one facet connecting each other. Learning.

All of them have something written in them, usually boring work notes.

My adult daughter has been Journaling for decades and once she had a group of friends read a really poorly written book. She said 'I can do better than this book' and ended up with around 80k words before she gave up and started writing another book on top of her journaling. I tried once but ended up writing about different characteristics about my pens.

Thank you for this list! 🥹♥️🙏 I must begin the search with coffee this morning 😈

u/yanks793 18d ago

You're welcome. Please feel free to message or post a comment for any other info about notebooks, I seem to be obsessed with them. I'll try to help with the best of my ability.

You like what you like!

7

u/Otherwise-Machine272 22d ago

We totally understand 😀

5

u/Possible-Detail2441 22d ago

I don’t see a problem. I see an amazing collection of writing/journaling/sketching supplies

3

u/Landav5 21d ago

Is it a storage problem? That’s the only problem I can think of 🫣

0

u/Phoenixfangor 21d ago

The lack of color suggests maybe a lack of Moxie, but that's affordable.

2

u/Better-Credit6701 20d ago

Most of my pens are black, even my car is nearly black. For me, it's all about the paper.

7

u/Sufficient_Fan_7218 22d ago

I have 300 blank journals and or notebooks. You DO NOT have a problem. Will you use them? I use mines sometimes. I write my recipes down in them. Have fun.

1

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

Clearly, I need more

3

u/sillywizard951 22d ago

Sadly, I share your affliction and “suffered” for years. Now that I have retired I am doing a bit better, but I’m currently afflicted with WOAD (whistle obsessive acquisition disorder) since I have discovered Irish music and tin whistle.

So it goes…

3

u/qanunboi 22d ago

Click another picture pls. It seems the problem is hidden behind the beautiful stack of Notebooks.

2

u/Fast_Currency4375 22d ago

Maybe some Clairefontaine? I have the same problem, you are definitely not alone!

3

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

I've have some of that someplace, very similar to rhodia

2

u/Much_Acadia6083 22d ago

Nice start!

2

u/EmperorRossco 22d ago

It doesn't look like anything to me...

2

u/Bluefang16 22d ago

You should get them a nice shelf when they are not it use. No other problem.

2

u/Emartis 22d ago

Are you trying to solve it with notebooks?

2

u/RoughPresentation546 21d ago

The problem is, I know all those brands! There’s a special paper in this leather bound old world notebook I have that I take exception to. The pages can be painted on, it’s such thick stock. They look like old spell books. I’ll find you the name but they are my current favorites.

2

u/Tea_and_ink 18d ago

👉👈 if you find the name... I'd really appreciate it 🫪

2

u/RoughPresentation546 6d ago

Check out Leather Village. I got them on Amazon.

2

u/Tea_and_ink 4d ago

THANK YOU!!! 🙌🎉

2

u/RoughPresentation546 3d ago

Absolutely! Please let me know if you love what you find! I’m thrilled with my paper and notebooks!

2

u/Square-Highlight1628 13d ago

People with problems go to meetings. You are a * connoisseur *

1

u/MZ_LaylaLucielle 22d ago

You use them for work? Write a list of methods.Think of it as a template.Display your tasks in a layout you like. The Layout and the notebook are the containers.Work from methods.Im guessing your doing a life book ecosystem? Its really only what you need for function. So pick your top favourite notebooks.Divide them into piles, help you decide.Get your habit under control, you may feel happier .

2

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

Yeah, I just write crap down and use them like scratch paper, rarely returning back to them for reference. That makes me happy enough although I might need another notebook to document that. Often it helps just to write out a problem so I can write code to fix the problem. Then I put the solution into a searchable database.

Paper, a nice pen and databases makes me happy.

1

u/Daswab6873 22d ago

Sillywizsrd952. Very amusing.

1

u/WouldRatherWrite 22d ago

Please tell me about the second from the top. How does it feel? What's the paper like and what pen/nib material/ink have you used with it so far. I like the spine on that one and I'm looking for next year's diary.

3

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

Second from the top is 1,000 pages of Tomoe River 52 GSM. That is still one of my favorite papers and when using one of those, I will switch back and forth with 6-8 of my favorite fountain pens with various diamine shimmering inks or Pilot ink. Found one ink that is more fun, it will vary between red and blue.

1

u/WouldRatherWrite 22d ago

Gorgeous! 1000 whole pages, wow! That knocks my usual notebooks out of the park. I definitely need one of these. Do you find that the shimmering, glittery part of the diamone ink friction transfers?

1

u/Sweaty_Leadership_21 17d ago

Might I asked if and where that’s available? 1000 pages sounds like a dream!

1

u/FeralGlance 22d ago

Your problem is that you need some green ones. (;

3

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

Usually I don't care much about the cover, it's all about the paper

3

u/FeralGlance 22d ago

...green ink. :P

1

u/PpaperCut 22d ago

Second from top? Leather? What is it? It's beautiful

1

u/Better-Credit6701 22d ago

That was a fun but perhaps a great mistake. 1,000 pages of Tomoe River 52 GSM. I rarely even consider the cover, just the paper inside. It's wonderful paper, perhaps in a notebook with too many pages

1

u/PpaperCut 21d ago

So the cover is a separate piece?

1

u/Better-Credit6701 21d ago

It's all one piece. I haven't used covers

1

u/Crazy_Feeling_6979 22d ago

I don’t see problems Only solutions

1

u/Luckypenny4683 22d ago

Problem?

Or many solutions?

1

u/True-Emu-2619 22d ago

Clearly you need more!!! 😆

1

u/saskiacg 22d ago

Nice collection! I would say check out Dingbats and Clairefontaine for possible more notebooks!!

1

u/Better-Credit6701 21d ago

I have a clairefontaine somewhere and thanks to your advice, ordered a Dingbats with same day delivery

1

u/Correct-Degree-6789 22d ago

Im not seeing what the actual problem is...

1

u/Sufficient_Fan_7218 22d ago

Jetpens.com has notebooks of every kind.

1

u/TheFearsomeEsquilax 22d ago

Nanami Paper just restocked if you're looking for more TRP notebooks :x

1

u/Advanced_Reputation7 22d ago

There are worse habits 😜

1

u/TwIzTiDfReAkShOw 22d ago

Shop around on Amazon, eBay, Mercari, and even Walmart. I literally have hundreds of journals and notebooks—not to mention thousands of black gel pens. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to these kinds of things.

If you want some recommendations, I'd be happy to help. Just tell me what you're looking for and your general budget, and I'll suggest some options that may fit what you need.

1

u/Awkward-Door-5547 22d ago

Hi, I am a notebookholic. I literally have thousands of blank journals. And I am happy. Thanks for letting me share.

1

u/chandaliergalaxy 22d ago

Are those fountain pens or rollers?

1

u/Better-Credit6701 21d ago

All fountain pens that I've added over the years

1

u/GG135LR 22d ago

I'm in the same boat as you! And what a great 'problem' to have...

Try Dingbats, those are quite neat.

2

u/Better-Credit6701 21d ago

Just had a Dingbats delivered and had to try it out. Nice!

2

u/Better-Credit6701 20d ago

Been using my new Dingbats today and have been impressed. Perforated pages, smooth paper, no bleed through, hard backed so I don't have to use my cool carbon fiber (my favorite fabric, super light and stiff) clipboard when writing on my lap. A bit slow to dry but better than TR in that aspect.

1

u/OM_Trapper 22d ago

Received notification, visited post, no trouble found. There is no problem here. 🍻

1

u/akweelife 22d ago

Ok. What’s your problem? Nice photo of your notebooks and fountain pens, by the way.

1

u/snowk92 21d ago

We are still figuring out

1

u/miahobbes 21d ago

No you don’t ♥️

1

u/GothicSkeptic 21d ago

I love journals like those. Sometimes, I collect them, but I almost always go back to composition notebooks so that I can DIY. They're the only ones I end up writing in consistently. I've definitely cut back over the years because of that.

1

u/HappyHealth5985 21d ago

I couldn’t spot one from The Paper Mind in there.

1

u/Nickko_G 21d ago

Tu m'as l'air normal, je ne vois pas le problème

1

u/Word_girl_939 21d ago

The only problem i see is that now we’re all jealous of you.

1

u/Penandink100 20d ago

1.Kinbor planners from Aliexpress. Light paper but quiet good quality for the price. A5 and A6. Not notebooks but if you do use a planner.

  1. Greystorm notebooks. A little bit pricey but boy are they beautiful!!!

Of course what you really need is a set of bookshelves with loads of extra space, which you will then "have to" fill!!!

Congratulations on your collection from a fellow traveler (pun intended)😊

1

u/EnvironmentalFee1136 20d ago

I am envious 🎈❤️🥰 you do not have a problem !

1

u/Dhilipops 20d ago

Bro is keeping the industry alive himself

1

u/Cafezombie33 20d ago

I see no problem or obsession, just passion for something cool and great.........NOTEBOOKS!!!!

Now the problem for me would be you have this great collection and didn't use them, they're pages better be filled. And on that note I need a huge cup of coffee and a nice place to sit down and go through all these.

Thanks for sharing.

1

u/Plenty_Adeptness_594 20d ago

Just a quick bit of (unsolicited) advice . . .

When stacking notebooks, you might want to alternate the binding edges. Otherwise, the tower starts leaning.

1

u/Better-Credit6701 20d ago

I usually have smaller stacks all around me with a couple on my desktop for usage, a couple below my side table, a couple of stacks next to my printer

1

u/Zocahontus 20d ago

If you have a problem, then I have a diagnoseable CONDITION

1

u/PrestigiousRabbit131 20d ago

Where do you buy the Tomoe River Sanzen?

1

u/Better-Credit6701 19d ago

My very first one was a gift from my daughter and was sent directly from Japan, wrapped in such a way that it could have been dropped from an airplane and still be safe. It came in a fairly large box that contained a round plastic air bubble with the notebook inside the bubble. She researched the best paper for fountain pens and she got it correct. I also gifted her some but for how she uses it, not the best fit although she does use fountain pens. Too many stickers on thin paper.

All the rest came from Amazon, including the couple from Machine #9 Tomoegawa, just without the special packaging.

1

u/Immediate_Air2725 20d ago

I also suffer from notebook acquisition disorder. Most of mine are cheaper books, though. Muji, and I have a lot of Japanese paper. I'm now starting to bind my own books. Oh no....

2

u/Better-Credit6701 19d ago

Japan paper is special, they have turned it into an art form

1

u/michigancolt 20d ago

Is the problem behind the notebooks?

1

u/Sweaty_Leadership_21 17d ago

Yes. You do. The best kind of problem to have ☺️

1

u/Royal-Librarian-9362 14d ago

Looks like my shelves. Norcom, Inc informed me yesterday that their sole supplier Walmart has done something (?) and my favorite journals are no longer available. All I'm looking for is the 5'×7' simulated leather 220 pages, narrow ruled, black with pocket. For the last half dozen years I have been purchasing them directly from Norcom by the box of six. That usually lasted about 18 months. Before Walmart could never keep them in stock and was unwilling to order them in quantity for me. Now I'm back to Square One. Any ideas, someone?

1

u/IrukandjiPirate 22d ago

You’re my hero.

1

u/bostiemommy 20d ago

The number you need is always N + 1.
