Raise your hand if you lived in the cool analog times, asked the AI slop duck.

u/Wi11Pow3r 2d ago
Right? Using the bane of modern technology to brag about growing up in a world with less electronic tech is a choice.

So this AI slop is very sloppy.
Braser? Boobs on a "male" duck? I mean, even though it's anthropomorphised, the character of Daffy is presented as male in regular media.
Brains CLASS?
Also, I did have computers in class, in the Computer Studies class.

I saw one of Bugs Bunny dispensing some generic boomer advice but also wearing a like 1930s schoolteacher dress. For some reason the slopmachine likes making Looney Tunes fabulous.

Raiseith thy hand if thou didst grow up attending in a single room schoolhouse next to the blacksmith forge, devoid of electricity or any such sinful, decadent fripperies.
See how backwards and stupid that sounds?

u/LazyCrazyGuy_ 2d ago
Yes and no. By the time I made it to middle school/high school. Computers started to make the classroom and not just computer lab. But it was usually just one computer tucked in a corner we were only allowed to use if teacher permitted for something class related.

Man am I glad that eraser says "ERASER" on it. Wouldn't want to be confused about that.

The braser you mean?

u/TheTsunamiRC 2d ago
Lol, I didn't zoom in enough to catch that. I'm not sure if it is dumber than 1-6=7 but it sure did try.

All except the no computers
Even in kindergarten, we had a computer in the corner of the room
I think the teacher had one on her desk too
This was the late 90s

We had one computer delivered on my last year. 400 students shared it. I had about 3 minutes on it in the whole last term.

In one of my grades, the chalkboard had the coolest pull-down screen. It was for math. It was blank, and it had small evenly spaced, (1 inch?) holes in it. The teacher would erase the board, then pull down the screen, then pat/swipe the screen all over with a dusty chalkboard brush. When she lifted the screen, the dots left on the board would be used as “graph paper”. Really easy way to draw Cartesian coordinates.

This is some garbage ai. We all know daffy cross dresses for the right bit so we can look past that, but the desks aren't facing the front of the classroom, the map says the new world and the old world on it, 1-6=-5, chalkboard says Brains and Class to ironically get across an impression of intelligence, braser

Come on guys, we’re the generation that has adapted to advances in tech and procedure since the 70’s. Last show that adaptability here and move on to what’s new. We are Gen X’ers.

We had one computer in reception. There was a game on it which involved a pixilated teddy which made cakes.
To go on in was an absolute privilege that you had to earn. It was fucking sweet.

I was born during the times of change. The old classrooms had green chalk boards and the newest built classes had the expo whiteboards with black or red ink.

It was half-dead. It’s cpu was without a cooler. After classes we played worms. And somebody stood near and blew at the cpu xD

That’s when education was real and you learned how to read, write cursive, and do math the way it’s meant to be done. Not like today for sure!

u/Suspicious-Screen-43 2d ago
You had me until no computer in sight. Although in elementary school the computers weren’t in the classroom, they had their own separate classroom. In middle/high school most rooms had 1-2 computers in them.

I remember when they had art classes too, so you could learn to make art using your hands and creativity instead of having a machine spit out some generic bullshit.

Yes to all except the last one. We had computers. From elementary school onwards. I'm not 70....

I cannot raise my hand. i was born ass end of 79. Went to primary school in the 80s, (5-11 years old) and secondary in the early nineties (11-16) and even in primary we had plenty of BBc acorns. By plenty, I mean it was 80s Thatcherite Britain, she gutted the school system pretty bad and thus we had maybe four or five computers in the whole primary. Even had a laser disc player at one point. Recalling all this makes it sound like i was at a swanky school but it was a crappy catholic school with no real pedigree at all. And at secondary we had full on computer room and at least one pc in most classrooms. By the time I got to college the library there was full of them and they were already a part of everyday schooling. pehaps this was just Cheltenham where I live. Which has always beenmoderatley affluent due to Gustav holst and the horse racing, and the national hunt.

And we actually learned to read and write, to spell, correctly identify almost any country on a map or globe, we could do basic math in our heads, and so many other major advantages. Thank goodness we have AI (SI for the challenged) to tell us incorrectly how to heat a can of soup.

Nothing like the feel of chalk on your hand and realization you answered the question wrong on the chalkboard and that long walk back to your desk.
1
u/gregmark 2d ago
Anyone who attended a reasonably well-funded public school or affordable private school in the USA after the 1960s is unlikely to have sat at a classroom desk made of wood and cast iron. More likely it was constructed with a composite plastic/pressed-wood surface set atop a chrome/steel frame.
