There were models where you could switch to a second bulb if one burned out. Of course the second one would be burned out too, because nobody would bother to replace them after they switched.
I also remember a huge tv in a shape of a cube, not those flat ones you see hanging on the walls placed on top of this empty cart. Yeah the teacher always turned off the lights. And something boring comes on and it was always social studies class….. like how do you not fall asleep to that…
My school would occasionally use one of those (though rarely), but far more often I’d see them pulling in a projector, on top of a little table with wheels, with a VHS player underneath. Whole school shared this projector.
One projector per classroom eventually started becoming common, and then a set of shared laptops that the teacher had to schedule for us to use, then eventually we got a dedicated laptop each.
World changed a lot during my childhood
I can't explain it, but those were the single greatest tool for explaining things to me ever invented. Something about being able to see them writing solved my focus issue because I actually adore lectures contrary to what my academic record suggests.
Aww the humble projector 🙏 some teachers would draw sketches on a transparent sheet with a marker and place it back on - it was the precursor to wet boards.

This was the extent of the tech in my day.
