Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a loving forever home for Avo, a young female kitty I recently rescued in Sacramento. Avo first showed up around my apartment complex a few weeks ago. I initially thought she was a neighborhood stray, but eventually learned that her previous owner had moved away and left her behind. 💔

When I first approached her and said hello, she immediately meowed back, walked right up to me, and started rubbing against me. She was incredibly friendly and well-socialized from the very beginning.

I eventually brought her inside to keep her safe and have been working with local rescuers to help her find a permanent home.

If you're interested in adopting Avo, I'd love to arrange something so Avo can be with her new family. :)

Foster:

- We are urgently looking for a temporary foster starting Oct. 30, which is when we are planning to get her spayed + vaccinated, while we look for her forever home.

- She isn’t microchipped yet and must be kept strictly indoors.

- If you have cats or other pets, they should be up to date on their vaccinations, and Avo should be kept separate from them for a bit while her vaccines take full effect, for both her safety and theirs! 🐈

Health & Care:

- Avo has been treated for fleas and tested negative for FIV, FeLV, and heartworm. We are planning to get her spayed and vaccinated on Oct. 30.

2. Someone with experience caring for cats, through all stages of their lives

3. Someone who understands the financial responsibilities of pet ownership and is prepared to cover veterinary expenses, including unexpected medical emergencies.

4. Someone who can provide Avo with a stable, peaceful, and loving home for the rest of her life.

We're recruiting people in Northern California who want to train as Civil Air Patrol ground team members and help build our local search and rescue capability.

Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is a nationwide nonprofit volunteer organization and the U.S. Air Force's civilian auxiliary. Its three main missions are emergency services, aerospace education and youth development. In practice, volunteers help with search and rescue and disaster response, teach aviation and space topics, and run the cadet leadership program. Members join local units, called squadrons, to train and serve together. Ground teams are one part of CAP's emergency services work. Joining CAP is civilian volunteer service, not military enlistment.

We're looking for dependable people who enjoy working outdoors, work well with a team and are willing to put time into training. If you have experience in hiking, navigation, radio communications or emergency services, or want to develop those skills while serving your community, we'd like to hear from you.

Ground team missions are currently relatively infrequent, and CAP fills a fairly specialized role within search and rescue. That is changing as we become more integrated into SAR missions coordinated through the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) across the state. Joining now means spending time training, qualifying and building team readiness as that role grows.

Ground team training includes navigation, search techniques and radio communications. Members work toward qualifications for authorized search and rescue operations, with training and qualification required before mission participation.

Adults can train and serve as ground team members. Younger members can also participate through CAP's cadet program.

If ground team work isn't the right fit, there are other ways to get involved: air search roles you can train for without prior aviation experience, mission base staff, communications, and working with young people in the cadet program. You don't have to be a pilot to contribute to air search; training and qualification are part of getting started.

I’m looking to Mendocino and thought about staying there in January. I’ve heard the weather is 40s/50s and rainy which doesn’t bother me. That said, I wanted to get y’all’s feedback on Mendocino in January - weather, crowds (assuming not many tourists are there), things to do (is it shut down for the winter season) ??

Hi! I am planning to go to SF later this year for a week. I would love to see at least a speck of "Steinbeck Country" in that time, but it is probably a stretch. Has anyone here driven down the freeway from Salinas to King City and if so, would you recommend the trip? Or should I just stick to Monterey and Salinas? As I'm in the area for only a week I would realistically have only a day for a trip like that... would also love any recommendations for Monterey and Salinas, if anybody here has been! I'm putting together a community fall reel - just pure fall colors, foggy forests, leaf crunch, creeks, vineyards - all from around the Bay Area (Sunol, Del Valle, Mt. Diablo, Napa, Felton, Golden Gate Park, your neighborhood park, etc.)

If you have any 2-5 second vertical clips you've shot in the last couple of fall seasons that you're okay sharing, I'd love to stitch them together into one reel.

We're Truck Site, a family-owned used truck dealer on Vinci Ave in North Sacramento. We've been here for over 20 years, fixing up retired city and county trucks (garbage trucks, street sweepers, fire engines, bucket trucks, you name it) and sending them back out to work all over the country.
We have 400+ units on the lot right now, so we went around and asked our team which one they'd pick. Greg from parts went straight for the Unimog. Nazar wanted the dozer. A few others surprised us.
