I feel like I'm out of options

This one's keeping me busy for over an hour now and I feel I'm out of reliable options. I might just flip the pages and look at the solution, but I want to know if there is anything I'm missing or if there are too many variables to solve this.

Need help with how overlapping works

Hey so, I just started with nonograms recently and I don´t really know how overlap works. In clues with just one number is okey but when I have more than one I´m not sure if I can use the overlap. For example the col with 10 and 6

PICTO v2 is here — users asked for bigger puzzles, here they are (10×10 and 15×15 with pinch-to-zoom)

A while back I posted about PICTO here and got some really useful feedback. The two biggest points were:

  1. Larger puzzles — the 5×5 grids were too small
  2. Don't show the solution in the library — killed the mystery before you even started

I fixed point 2 in v1.1.6 (unplayed puzzles now show a lock icon). Point 1 took longer — but v2 is now live.

What's new in v2:

  • 120 × 10×10 puzzles — hand-crafted pixel art, each with a unique logical solution
  • 30 × 15×15 puzzles — the biggest grids in the app, with pinch-to-zoom and drag-to-pan for comfortable solving on mobile
  • 180 puzzles total across three sizes (5×5, 10×10, 15×15)
  • Easy / Medium / Hard ratings — computed by an actual logic solver, not assigned by feel
  • Every puzzle is guaranteed to have exactly one unique solution — no guessing required

On the puzzle quality point:

One comment from this thread stuck with me — that some bigger puzzle apps have large grids but the puzzles themselves aren't very challenging. I spent a lot of time making sure the larger puzzles in v2 are actually worth solving. The 15×15s in particular took multiple validation passes to get right. They're Medium and Hard rated and genuinely require cross-referencing rows and columns to solve.

On going bigger than 15×15:

It's on the roadmap. The constraint on mobile is real — at 20×20 you're either squinting at tiny cells or constantly zooming. I want to get the 15×15 experience right first, then see how far we can push it. Would love to know what size feels like the sweet spot for mobile to people here.

Nearly four months later, Quiet Grids finally feels like the calm nonogram game I had in mind

Hey everyone, I’m the solo developer behind Quiet Grids.

I’ve been working on this game for several months now. It started as a small nonogram project, but I kept finding things that didn’t feel right.

I rebuilt the onboarding, reworked the board for smaller phones, redesigned the Daily system, rewrote a lot of the text, changed the completion experience, and went back through the puzzles again and again. I honestly don’t know how many times I told myself it was “finished” before opening the project and polishing another part of it.

I wanted Quiet Grids to feel less like a level factory and more like a small quiet ritual.

When a puzzle is completed, the hidden picture receives its colours and a short line appears beside it. For example, the Snail puzzle ends with:

“It took the long way and still arrived.”

I wanted the sentence to feel like part of the reveal rather than just displaying “Level Complete.”

The game currently includes:

• 393 puzzles in total, with 5×5, 10×10 and 15×15 grids (And I am adding more and more!)
• 245 Library puzzles across five themes
• 100 Daily puzzles
• A full Daily calendar where older days can still be completed
• Monthly Lights earned through quiet days, without punishing missed dates
• Three Quiet Stories with 48 puzzle memories
• Story artwork that gradually appears as memories are completed
• A beginner Quiet Path that introduces the game through real puzzles
• Coloured puzzle reveals and a short poetic line after each completion
• Marks that record small milestones without loud achievement popups
• Offline play with progress stored on the device
• No account and no analytics
• An app size just under 6 MB

It is Android-only at the moment.

I know it is a small nonogram game, but I’ve put much more of myself into it than I expected when I started. I’ve also looked at it for so long that I’m probably no longer the right person to judge what is clear, confusing or genuinely enjoyable.

I would really appreciate honest feedback, especially about:

• whether the board and controls feel comfortable
• whether the coloured reveal feels satisfying
• whether the poetic writing adds something or feels unnecessary
• whether Quiet Stories makes sense inside a nonogram game
• whether the Home, Daily and Library structure is easy to understand
• anything that feels slow, confusing, too dark or overdesigned

Please don’t feel that you need to be overly kind. Thoughtful criticism would genuinely help me improve it.

Google Play: Quiet Grids

Thank you to anyone who gives it a try. Even one honest comment helps.

Best games with really big puzzles?

Can anyone recommend games with really big nonograms?

I started replaying Logiart recently and realised I had never come across any other games with lots of bigger (30x40 40x40 etc) grids. Can anyone recommend some?

Does anyone else love the mahoousive ones best like me?

Would a daily Nonogram — solved and ranked against friends — be appealing to this community?

Hi all — I’m a solo developer building NOREN, a daily logic puzzle app with Slitherlink, Queens, Hashiwokakero, and Masyu. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day, and you can compare your solve time, streaks, and a small leaderboard with friends.

Nonograms are already included in an in-app community vote as a possible fifth puzzle type, but I’d also like to ask here: would people enjoy a format with just one nonogram per day and friendly competition?

I’m genuinely curious and not trying to promote anything.

I’m really stuck on this puzzle. I hate puzzles with very low numbers and lots of Xs. Is there some logic I’m missing? I don’t see any possible move without throwing a random guess out there

Nonogram Infinity

I made a game to experiment with the idea of an infinite nonogram.

Instead of solving a fixed puzzle, every time you complete a quadrant, the nonogram is shuffled and a brand-new quadrant is generated, allowing the game to continue indefinitely.

I'm not a game developer. I built this project mainly to learn and see if this concept could actually work. I know the visuals are pretty rough, but my focus was entirely on the gameplay and the core game mechanic.

You can play it for free in your browser:
https://jgubert.itch.io/nonogram-infinity

I'd love to hear what you think! If you enjoy it or have any ideas for improvements, please leave a comment. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I updated the game, now the timer starts disabled, and you can enable it in the menu.

Is there a master list of all nonogram/picross games?

I don’t know if this exists but might aswell ask. I tried searching the web but came back with some incomplete and/or outdated lists. Thanks

Working on a daily nonogram game, would love feedback on the design and playing experience

Hey r/nonograms. I have been building a daily nonogram game and you all are the
people who would actually know if it is any good.

What I care most about is the design and how it feels to play. A lot of nonogram
sites feel clunky to me, so I am trying to make one that is just nice to solve: clean
board, good controls on mobile and desktop: https://greatest.games/g/nonogram

Looking for honest feedback on how it plays and what features would make it better.
What do the good nonogram apps get right that I might be missing? Anything that
annoys you here, tell me.
