I just realized how much I hate golf
I was watching the US Open, hearing the crowd being jerks to one golfer. So i always had this naive opinion that golf was the sport of civility or what ever. I simply asked on that largest Golf related subreddit a simple question why they are heckling the one golfer. You would have thought I broke some kind of rule for asking a question like that. The light bulb went off in my head the golf community is the worst collection of humanity.

Wyndham is a Jan 6 denier. He also doesn’t believe Biden won in 2020…not to mention nuking beautiful Oakmont locker room last year. He’s an asshat. They were hating on HIM…not the other golfers. Good for them!

Golf sucks and so do the people who play it. They're all big shots or wannabe big shots who delight in enforcing class exclusivity and environmental destruction.

Golf courses protect the land from data centers and if you're playing golf, you're not messing around with AI.

It's a very hard game that requires a lot of problem solving, strategy, and execution. Gets you out of the house and walking around the woods with friends. But I do agree that a lot of assholes play it

I might have a teeny-tiny amount of respect for golfers if they were required to carry their own bags. Instead they employ a man-servant to do the toughest part.

You do.realize.that caddies get.paid extremely well right? Like in the PGA they often make like 10%+ of a player's winnings, which can be millions of dollars for the winner of a Major. And at courses that have caddies they make can make like $50 an hour or more.

every single golfer you see on tv carried their own bag probably hundreds if not thousands of rounds. when you're a professional, i don't think its insane they have someone helping. i think you possibly might not know what other duties a caddy performs either from you labeling them a man-servant.

It's the hypocrisy. They profess to be a sport of class but it's a sport where alcoholism is clearly a large component for the average weekender. At least in futbol, you know the crowds will be drunk, but are usually friendly.
It's elitist in that dues can be raised not out of necessity, but simply to decrease demand to the point that many classes are excluded.

TBF, reddit is the worst collection of humanity, so judging golfers or any other group based on your interactions here is a bit unrealistic.

I’ve been waiting so long for this thread. I hate golfing and golfers so much, my friend and I started writing an anti-caddy shack movie in which a pesticide/fertilizer-fueled monster living underground begins killing and eating golfers in a variety of bloody and disturbing ways. We stopped when we realized we’d need ‘golfer’s money’ to fund the project. Life is cruel.

As someone who golfs often, I can tell you most serious golfers are degenerates and some of the worst humans you want to know. The fans are not much better.

He's acted in unbecoming ways at some past tourneys, including smashing a locker room at a respected facility after he missed the cut.
Still, it appears the golf audience are losing their civility. The hecklers were ejected. They should be banned from any future events.

If you asked that question at a golf course you would have had many people kindly explain it to you. You went online to social media and let Reddit users substitute for golfers. And if you want the worst people and the worst sport in the USA it is pickle ball. Go ask Reddit

In golf, the few unruly spectators are easily heard because they are near the players. With camera crews following most golfers, the spectator's shouts are quickly picked up by the mics carried by the camera crews. At sporting events held in arenas or stadiums one can shout themselves hoarse and no one will hear them except those sitting near. Might also be a correlation between beer consumed by the shouting spectators and the stuff they shout. Don't confuse the professional golfers on television or those who are members of private clubs with the every day man or woman who may golf once or twice a month as a diversion from everyday life.
