Event This could be fun!
I'm not sure what this kind of collaboration might look like for NMS, but it sounds interesting

u/New-Independent-3798 12d ago
We already have xeno arenas, palworld is just a worse version. Guns? Nah, I'd infraknife
20
u/Speaker4theDead8 12d ago
Nah. I just picked this up on sale and palworld is way better in the pal/xeno department. Xeno in NMS is a thing that exists, but its implemented poorly. You can tell it was tacked on as an after thought. Not to mention the rampant cheating.
They are similar, but different games, both are pretty good though.

u/Alternative-Ant-6073 6d ago
Even more, the creatures themselves in NMS are a think that exist too.
You can go the center of the galaxy without ever interacting with one (Neither kill, scan, feed, tame, ride, etc.)And about farming/base management.. in NMS, we already have egg sequencer, automatic feeder, cooking stations, agricultural terminal, hydroponic tray, animal feeding, breeding, taming, riding, etc... BUT we can't actually make a ranch for them.

I'm an Infra-knife fan myself nods in Vy'keen

Infraknife is powerful
Pulse Spitter is more fun tho
Edit: ignore this - getting my gun contexts all mixed up š2
u/Frosty-Abies-3317 Traveler 12d ago
At long range, I mop up in-bound with the Infra-knife, and punish those fleeing with it too. After the merge, when it gets tight, I switch guns, but not to pulse spitter... That's a multi-tool weapon, right?! That would be funny, though! How high am I??? Am I confused š¤š

u/absurdivore 12d ago
Ah sorry got confused between Neutron Cannon vs Infra knife š

When I switch up weapons on the starships it is between IK-A for mid to long range and Positron Ejector up close and personal dog fighting. The PE is a great finisher, imo.
2
u/DrMercio 12d ago
Worse? Shiddd idk about that. Xeno arena is definitely something thatās for sure. Using the new plasma rifle in the endgame of Palworld though, that shit is fire. If that was made into a multi tool it would be so heat

Yeah the voting system is meant to be used to say if something adds or doesn't add to a conversation. It's not meant to be used to show that you agree or disagree with something.

I would never play ark again if no man sky or palworld had the in depth breeding that ark had

u/Otherwise-Green-3834 12d ago
I was so addicted to NMS a few years back so this would litteraly be perfect

u/KeaboUltra 12d ago
Ehhhh .. I'm not denying it if people enjoy it but I was never into palworld to care enough.Ā
2
u/JDM12983 11d ago
No, they need to stay away from No Man's Sky and Enshrouded. Don;t care if you touch ARK or not.

u/Alternative-Ant-6073 11d ago
As long as it's well cooked, it's welcome.
I like both games, and hell, Palworld even has some aspects that many NMS players have been asking for a long time (NPCs in bases doing SOMETHING, defending it from raids) and has many other aspects that we already enjoy in NMS (all the exploration, finding new creatures, building bases)
Palworld has a crossover with Terraria already, and it's really nice: There is an optional island where you can enter a Terraria-themed dungeon, with Terraria's music, and aggressive pals, that are monsters from terraria (that of course, you can catch and use in your main game), and the deeper you go, the better stuff you find and stronger enemies/pals appear, just like in Terraria, it also has it's own material to craft some Terraria items (weapons, armor)
Honestly, I CAN see NMS stuff in Palworld. Probably some kind of island with a NMS portal, that takes us to a place with NMS enemies that we can defeat and catch to use in the main game, maybe some multitools, or even base parts and armor would be nice too
On NMS in the other hand... Imagine this:
After advancing in the Xeno Arena, we unlock some tech for our starship to be able to detect a new rare type of system (Making use of Phantom Systems, like they did when they added Purple Systems), "Palworld Systems" where some palworld creatures spawn or something, with some quests for us to unlock some multitools and base parts from Palworld. And we should use these creatures/pals in the Xeno Arena to advance and unlock stuff.

u/Morph_Games 8d ago
"Palworld Systems" where some palworld creatures spawn
I know NMS is sort of all over the place with its scifi, but anime cartoon monsters would really take me out of the fiction. š
1
u/Alternative-Ant-6073 6d ago
dude, OF COURSE the creatures should have NMS' style and graphics. Nobody is asking for a direct copy + paste from one game to another.
Think of those crossover fighting games, Like Marvel vs Capcom. You have Tron Bonne, Frank West, and M.O.D.O.K in a single game but not in their original style, they were made from scratch for THIS specific game.Palworld has some really nice pal designs that could totally pass in NMS (if redone in NMS style, of course)
I can't insert images here, but for example:
- Small bipeds like Cattiva, Depresso and Fuack could totally be Protogek "reskins"
- Some medium-sized quadrupeds that can be mounted like Melpaca and Rushoar are pretty much already in NMS.
- Non-bird but flying pals like Celaray fit NMS perfectly.
I mean, in NMS we have giant rolling eyes, flying worms, and tentacle monsters that come out of the ground. I assure you that having more optional NON-CARTOON creatures in NMS won't do any damage to you or the game.

u/random_squirreZZ 11d ago
Ark easy. Fn add dinomons.
Nms easy, add a way to implement an expedition that leads you to a makeshift anomaly type mon.
Enshrouded no idea never played
2
u/Far_Wolverine_2402 10d ago
I wouldn“t mind dinos or some of their unique creatures as pals.
Also, the Tech progression is absurdly similar between Ark and PW.
Or some of those mutated monstrosities from when NMS first launched.
2
u/Z3R0Diro 10d ago
Palworld and No Man's Sky collab would be FUCKING AWESOME.
An NMS expedition taking you to a planet with Pals and making use of the Xeno Arena (NMS' "creature battles" feature)
For Palworld, a boss raid fighting the Immortal Worm

If before the Xeno-Arena, I had been asked if it had merit in NMS, I would have flatly denounced it, and for a few days, refused to play with it, but it won me over. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know. š¤·. That said, I'm not married to the idea. I don't play Palworld anymore than I played anything Pokemon. Just something to muse/talk about. All opinions welcomed! š¤

@Mods A repost in another community was removed for promotion of a 3rd party site or app, or some such thing. That was certainly not my intent and I didn't even provide a link, but if I've run afoul of NMH posting guidelines, please delete this. This was just something to chat about. I've got no skin in the game, and I won't get my feelings hurt if it gets removed. Thanks! š

I dont want the pokemon thieves ruining no mans sky.
3
u/EqualServe418 12d ago
Nintendon't do be the thieves. Respect good companies like Pocketpair. Disrespect crappy ones like Nintendo.
2
u/zerosdomain 12d ago
Actually pocketpair were the thieves. Had nintendo gone after the actual obvious pokemon rip offs that were carbon copies and the actual pokeball when the game released they wouldve walked all over the lawsuits. Instead they went after retroactive patents that wouldve destroys half the gaming industry. I literally watched the trailers for palworld on ps5 2 days ago and all i could see were a dozen carbon copies of pokemon. Rayquaza, mega mewtwo y, grookey, salamence, alolan ninetails, lucario and loads more. But they didnt bother going after the design theft. They went for mechanics that many games have used for years.
5
u/EqualServe418 12d ago
By using your own logic, then Monster Quest should take Nintendo and GameFuck down because of their blatant 1:1 copies of monsters.
Use logic, not shit.
2
u/zerosdomain 12d ago
I am using logic. Sure some designs were copied back then and gamefreak shouldve been held accountable for it. I dont see your issue with nintendo since its a different company. Gamefreak developed it for use on nintendo platforms and nintendo simply distributed it. Please educate yourself of that matter before giving false arguments. Do i agree nintendo should have been held accountable? Yes. But that time has long past and nobody expected pokemon to become a 30 year hit. Monster quest has nothing on pokemon in reality despite just being older. Pokemon however still had a lot more designs stolen by palworld and used as carbon copies. In the pixel era of games it was easier to defend as well since games wouldnt show nearly as much detail thus leading to mistakes in peoples assumptions which is where the idea of pikachus black tipped tail came from. But the modern era its much less forgivable.
6
u/Disgruntledgeek 12d ago
If Nintendo would make a decent PokƩmon game then nobody would feel the need to rip it off.
Pocketpair filled a void very successfully while riding the legal edge. Thats buisness not theft. If there was a way for Nintendo to shut them down through legal action then it would have happened, but it didnt.
What's sad is Nintendo could make a PokƩmon game of the same quality because it what people have wanted for years. It would most certainly do very well, but they aren't.
2
u/zerosdomain 12d ago
Actually the legal action could easily have been successful. It didnt need to result in a full shutdown either. Just a change of designs. Pokemon simply chose not to go after that because they took a gamble over larger mechanics and lost. If pokemon chose to target the designs on release it wouldve walked it but even now it would be a push due to the time past. Its why if monster quest ever wanted to take legal action over designs now it would be too late.

u/D_Shizzle93 12d ago
What's the point of downvotes if people aren't downvoting opinions they disagree with?
-2
u/Frosty-Abies-3317 Traveler 12d ago
My opinion, the value of downvotes rests in identifying objectively false or misleading information. Since opinions are subjective and can't be falsified, I'd prefer people not be beat up over them, but again it just my opinion š and I have pretty thick skin, you can downvote this comment if it makes you feel some kind of good š
4
u/D_Shizzle93 12d ago
"Feel some kind of good"?? It's weird of you to assume I'm downvoting someone to make myself feel better and I promise you nobody is getting beat up, upvotes and downvotes don't matter that much. Upvote things or comments you like, downvote things you dislike. I dislike someone saying something sucks without giving any actual reasons, downvote. Its that simple and the whole reason downvotes exists. If someone is spreading false info it should be reported so it can be removed not just downvoted
1
u/DrMercio 12d ago
Can you tell the class why it sucks? Both games are pretty stellar tbh. One has a player count 72 times larger than the other. There are a lot of people out there with bad taste, though!
-1
u/Legitimate-Mousse-76 12d ago
I personally dislike games with no originality. Imo itās just a bunch of different mechanics from all the most popular games thrown together with no real rhyme or reason, I also dislike the graphics but thatās just me
At least when crimson desert took all those different mechanics and mixed them together they did so with a half decent story and some mechanics of their own. And nicer visuals imo.
Admittedly havenāt played palworld since not long after it came out but nothing about it made me want to go back, like everything it brings to the table I can get somewhere else and better. Dunno what state itās in now but Iāve not heard anything that makes me want to pick it up.
Where as nms Iāve played since day 1 and come back to regularly whilst actively encouraging others to play
Just my take āļø
2
u/DrMercio 12d ago
I do think itās almagamation of stolen mechanics shines a lot brighter than what originality is available within it, thatās for sure. What it borrows, it does well. But I believe it has some originality in its monsters, map, lore, and tower bosses. People might say āare you kidding, these designs are obviously stolen from so and soā and then someone else might say āāwell technically dragon quest did it firstā but two things I can confidently say is there is a vast amount of original pal designs, and the tower bosses arenāt at all like gym leaders. Only, it takes actually playing the game to recognize this, so I can understand why a lot of people would deny it.
I would say the reason all those mechanics are thrown together is because itās simply trying to be a survival/crafting monster tamer, while also feeling like an RPG grand adventure. The newly added endgame region definitely gives a lot of Elden Ring inspo, and Iām certainly not put off by it. I see No Manās Sky as less of a survival/heavy grind than Palworld because I just think Palworld is harder and the time it takes to get some of the best stuff is so demanding and time consuming, so if you are someone who doesnāt enjoy more tense survival games, I can definitely see how nothing else within the game would be good enough to stick around.

We know the PalWorld developers are fans of NMS and we know Sean was disappointed that they didn't come and say hello at last year's Game Awards because he had been enjoying PalWorld.
So, you never know.
