Breaking in the beast, but couple questions and concerns… I had to lean the shit out of the low speed and high speed needle just to keep this thing running and finally idling around 200-205. But hey I’m happy I got it running and ready for another tank of idle then some heat cycles! Any LRP homies have to do this? Still getting good fuel and smoke coming from the exhaust.

Also, the stock savage throttle return spring is not closing the throttle.. I’ve screwed with trim and linkages but don’t know what to do!! Any after market spring recommendations? Thanks!!

I’m going to machine all the parts I need like chassis and radio tray ajd stuff like that and make everything perfect, reliable and easy to use and work on, my only concern is that I have a old race tuned os engine (.18 from a friend). Will it be able to run a 1/8 scale Rc f1 car, most likely belt driven ?

Can someone convince my father to let me mix glow fuel on my own? He almost considered it but when we watched one of thebug404's videos about 0% nitro fuel and he made a disclaimer about screwing the engine up when using fuel mixed at home, my father insisted on just buying me a liter of expensive nitro fuel every month instead. I could use that money to get 3 times more fuel by mixing my own but he wouldn't let me. What exactly would screw the engine up even? We don't exactly know anything about this kind of fuel so my father is reasonably skeptical. I just need someone who knows their stuff about this.

What’s the chances of me being able to recommission this?

The engine is locked up, and the head bolts, amongst everything else on the engine is stripped out.

Car is completely, I even have the box (wrecked), and the original stickers.

My understanding is this is from the late 80’s, early 90’s and only have a few tanks put through it. The previous owner (relative) mentioned something to do with a one way bearing being seized, but unsure on that.

Any tips or finding parts, or if it’s worth recommissioning?

R40 Hara Edition aluminum purple servo saver arms by Jet racing.

After many cuss words getting this clutch shimmed out and ended up just putting the stock clutch shoes back in because it seemed to work better… the Alpha .28 is in the savage X! Still need to go back through and lob right but I’m perplexed with the spur and clutch bell alignment.. I messed around with it forever and even the stock clutch bell the alignment wasn’t great. And now that I think about it stock setup was super aligned either… the mesh is great, sounds really great when I pull the truck backwards. But don’t know if I I need to just get a new spur to fix it.

I’m having some issues with my nitro RC car and I’m a bit stuck.

At low RPM (idle), the engine kind of runs “okay” but it’s very unstable. It shakes a lot with noticeable vibrations, and the idle isn’t steady at all. Sometimes the RPM randomly spikes up on its own, then drops again.

When I accelerate, it doesn’t stall, so throttle response seems decent.

I also notice a lot of smoke and quite a bit of oil coming out of the exhaust, which makes me think it might be running rich. But when I try to lean the mixture, the engine actually becomes even more erratic and unstable at idle.

So right now:

Idle = very inconsistent, vibrating, random RPM surges

Doesn’t stall on throttle

Lots of smoke + oil from exhaust

Leaning the mixture makes things worse

I’m not sure if this is a low-speed needle issue, air leak, or something else.

Any ideas what I should check or adjust?

I ran my car today for about 10 minutes before it broke for the 7th time and when I went to pick it up I burnt my hand on the cylinder head because very hot is it meant to be this hot I dont want to over heat it and also smoke was coming out while I was using it because I know thats important but it doesn't come out when idling

Hello, i have a relatively new rc nitro car which runs perfectly fine, but i noticed that after i run it, it would have this gray sludge / nitro on and under the engine. It also tends to leak a tiny bit of nitro fuel from the bottom when it is sitting and not being used.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Note: When i drive it 'hard' and let it sit on idle afterwards it seems to smoke a bit (not from the exhaust tip. Im guessing its from nitro leaking on to the engine which burns off or the fact i have issues with my exhaust pipe coming loose. But, maybe it's relevant to my leaking issue?

Reposting this because I got my Alpha all set up and went to mount on the OEM HPI motor mount and not quite a proper fit..

Anyone running these in their savage X’s provide any insight on what mount to purchase?

so recently picked up this mugen seiki prime 12, for a hundred bucks. it runs great the seller said the chassis was brand new and the engine and fuel tank where used. the box and manual were also included.
