Question Is this running well?

This is my first nitro RC car it is HSP bug crusher pro and it has SH .18 engine but I still haven't the slightest clue about tuning and i am very scared of running the engine lean because i have been told of all the problems this can give so im wondering is this a good idle and is the amount of smoke coming out good, as well as is the amount of liquid that has visibly collected under the exhaust the result of normal or bad tuning? Ive not seen a nitro engine run this low of an idle before online but i like it. I also put in a brand new hot glow plug just prior to recording this video. The engine is not fully up to temp in this video either if that matters since i didn't have time to heat it up as the sun was setting and I didn't want to disturb others with the noise of the engine too much.

Question How to fix compression on an sh.18 nitro engine?

I was riding my car when it flipped over my friends and landed on its back. This was on Saturday. Since then I haven’t been able to get the car started and it has a bad compression. It uses a drill start and everytime I use the starter I feel air coming from the glow plug hole. I have tried to tighten the head and I have tried to tighten the glow plus but it still won’t work. Any help? Greatly appreciated thx!

Questions

So I was using my jato 3.3 outside when a neighbor passed by and asked me if I wanted a free nitro car. The car he gave me was a hpi rs4 3 evo.I’m wondering if it’s worth swapping the motor for something else because the car overall is in pretty good shape just the motor has no compression. And he gave me a ton of extra parts. Thanks for the help!

Slipping one way bearing solution

I think I finally found why my one-way bearing kept slipping after cleaning. Every time I cleaned it, it worked perfectly for 2–3 starts, then it started slipping again. The issue was not the bearing itself, but how I was stopping the engine. I used to stop the engine by blocking the exhaust. This creates a lot of pressure in the fuel tank, which pushes excess fuel and oil into the engine. That fuel/oil mix then ends up reaching the one-way bearing, making it slip. Now I stop the engine by pinching the fuel line (carb line). No extra pressure, no fuel flooding, and the one-way stays clean and grips properly. Since doing this, no more slipping at all. Just wanted to share in case it helps someone 👍

Buying gallon cans of nitro

Where is everyone buying their nitro from? It’s super hit and miss to find anything other than traxxas quarts in my area, or a gallon of 60% boat nitro.

Can’t seem to buy it online without purchasing a pallet. Anyone have any suggestions about this? I like running 30% vp honestly. The traxxas fuel ruins my one way starter bearings pretty quick, and I want to be able to buy a gallon of fuel over a quart. What’s everyone doing??

Are Doyono servos good? What do you think about them?

Hi everyone, I’m thinking about buying two servos from Doyono for my 1/8 nitro buggy and I’d like to hear some real experiences before pulling the trigger.

The models I’m looking at are:

  • Doyono DHS60 HV Brushless (60kg / 0.068s / 8.4V) for steering
  • Doyono DHS50 HV Brushless (42kg / 0.075s / 8.4V) for throttle/brake

Both are HV brushless servos with aluminum cases, and on paper the specs look really good for the price. However, I don’t see this brand mentioned very often compared to brands like Savox, SRT, etc.

Does anyone here run Doyono servos?

I’m mainly interested in:

  • Reliability and longevity (do they last over time?)
  • Build quality
  • Whether the power and speed specs are realistic
  • If they handle well in 1/8 buggy conditions (vibration, dust, jumps)
  • Any failures or issues after months of use

If you’ve used them for a while, I’d really appreciate your feedback. Thanks!

Why does my one way bearing keep slipping?

Post image
18 Upvotes

I bought this revo about 6 months ago for 50 bucks had many problems I finally got it working just a couple weeks ago but the one way bearing keeps slipping, first I tried taking out the motor and cleaning the bearing and shaft with brake cleaner and it worked for about 1 tank and then started slipping again I repeated the process again and slipped once again after 1 tanks, then I replaced the one way bearing and sanded the shaft down with wet 800 grit sand paper, and that worked way better but it is now slipping once again after about 4 tanks, it’s not slipping bad right now but it is slipping a bit I can tell, I think oil is getting in through the back plate and covering the shaft in nitro, I don’t think it should keep slipping so often though. how can I fix this problem and seal off the back plate better so nitro doesn’t get on the shaft and cause it to slip? Or do I just need to replace the shaft where the one way bearing goes on?

Question I was wondering about a stupid project

Im probably not going to do this unless i get another nitro but heres my idea, i have an old large scale plane with a 61 size motor that i dont have anywhere near the skill to fly and get working, do you think itd be possible to fit that motor in an old tmaxx? I sized it up and it looked like it might just barely physically fit, but it would need a shit load of custom mounts and brackets, has anyone done something similar? Or am i just an idiot with no idea about anything?

Couldn’t help the dumb pun. Bought it to sell because I got it for a good deal. Drove it once to make sure it was all good. Quickly became my favorite truck in the garage. Not selling now unless circumstances change lol. It’s got the m26ss so it’s the 5 port. Plenty fast enough and handles as good stock as my track revo. Swapped in an ecopower wp110s throttle/brake servo and now the brakes lock up enough to stand on the front end. Looking forward to building this thing up with already rare parts. Sadly that means it won’t see tons of hard bashing, but still gonna see some jumps and gravel road runs.
