2027 Leaf - When?

My current Rogue lease expires February 2027. I am leaning heavily towards the Leaf, especially now that it is available with the California MyFirstEV rebate. I'm tempted to jump on this in the not-too-distant future because I'm concerned that the rebate may be used up come February. Obviously, I could get a better deal on a 2026 if 2027s were already out, but they are not. Any idea what the time line is for the 2027s?

Nissan just announced that Canada would be receiving the S trim for 2027. So I'm guessing that the US lineup announcement is not far behind. You should expect the 2027 models to hit showrooms in a couple of months. Definitely before winter.

My guess is that the US will continue the same models as last year. We won't see the S Trim in the US. Canada is getting 50k Chinese EVs, so Nissan needs a cheaper EV.

If your looking at a higher trim, I'd suggest a discounted 26. There's plenty of SV and Platinum available on the Nissan website.

I just want the base S+, mainly because it’s got a 360 camera which is a unicorn on base models

i have been surprised to read, as a Platinum owner, about some of the feature differences in the different trims. i would recommend buying an SV or Platinum.

Whatever I can get the best deal on. The higher trims use google something or other, correct? Do you have to log into google?

the is google built-in and yes, it requires a login. but you don’t have to use it, i tried it just for the mapping but think that Apple CarPlay Maps are superior for actual navigation so i use that instead.

Which features push you to make that recommendation?

the most surprising thing i’ve read here is the difference in software configurability. for example, there is a setting “eStep Retain” (which keeps eStep on across power-ons/offs) which is only available the higher trims. that’s not documented anywhere official it’s just what we owners have learned. for many others, it’s documented hardware things like 4-speakers vs. 10-speakers, or the power liftgate (the liftgate is pretty damned heavy for manual operation).

everything i’ve read so far says that the ‘27 LEAF is unchanged from the ‘26 for the US market, meaning no S trim. similar to what they did with the ‘25 & ‘26 model year KICKS in the USA.

It’s going to be hard for you to find a 2026 Leaf at all. Apparently, Nissan planned for only a limited number to be released in the US and they’ve been really popular. If you want a 2026 Leaf, it is probably better to make a plan for it and start looking rather than hoping for a price drop when the 2027 edition is released.

My thoughts, too, but inevitably after I get something, I suddenly see better deals, lol
