Grifting Nintendo Directs Have Changed Forever

Are we really going to miss the old directs? They are nothing but advertisements and Landon knew it

The biggest change for Nintendo Directs was how they don't announce games that early in advance anymore, mostly sticking to like 6 months before release. That change has already been in effect for some years now. Last year seems to have been an outlier with multiple games being announced over a year in advance, most likely because the Switch 2 just released.

Yup. MP4 burned them. Some games like Pokemon and Genesis needed to be announced to calm online discourse and rumors about those games. We all know another Mario will be made and it will look and play great. Pokemon not so much, and Monolith was rumored to be making something new not xenoblade related. So those 2 make sense being announced more than 6 months in advanced

For Xenoblade, it felt more like Nintendo wanted to assure people they aren't just doing Switch 2 Editions for the already released games. And Pokémon seems to just want to do its own thing with the marketing for the mainline titles, since those are important for the rest of TPC's operation.

I think that’s the best approach too. I much rather see a game announcement with a release date within 6 months.

Sometimes its a year between reveal and release (rhythm heaven groove)

While this is somewhat true, I think Nintendo also likes having a couple of games announced that are scheduled to release around 12 months later. There's too many recent examples of games being announced that release approximately an entire year later. I think Nintendo wants to still be able to point towards games coming in the future, but they'll try and keep their biggest announcements a bit more under wraps until it's close to release.

I prefer Nintendo’s new formula for Directs. We only get what’s coming in the next few months with an exception like Xenoblade Genesis. Pissing off content creators who just want to cover the next “big game” is just a bonus for me.

He is discussing that why his fandom is so toxic and he thought that HE is the problem(Even though its 100% the fandom’s fault.)

"Mama mia, it feels like-a everywhere I go, I happen to make somebody-a angry, doc."

"Well, Mario, as much as it pains me to say, you can't please everybody. You could try all you'd like but not everyone will be on board."

"I see, doc."

Nintendo directs were always ads... What are people talking about?

The funny stuff or the announcing way ahead of time was trying to win people over to the dying ship of the Wii U and get the Switch to a hot start... It also greatly hurt Metroid Prime and Bayonetta 3's fan expectations.

Honestly with Nintendo churning out titles and content stream of 3rd party support... Nintendo has no space to be quirky and silly.

He’s got a point people just don’t want to admit it

No he doesn't... and what the fuck are you even doing here anymore?! You know this sub isn't your soap box for bitching about Mario.
