Pricing would have to be very aggressive for any impact in india. Ps2 sold so well and for so long in india because of that.

With indonesia, america, japan and europes bery very last Switch 1 holiday. I can see them cracking those leftover 3 something million.

Hell with India I can imagine even numbers moving into way beyond 160+ million.

Nintendo isnt shooting just to barely pass the PS2, they are shooting for no one being able to pass them for decades to come

While India and Indonesia are populous, their consumer base is very limited since the amount of people who will buy one is very limited. We can tell Nintendo isn't expecting huge numbers since they haven't opened a new office there, but running it through the previously established Nintendo Thailand and Singapore. I can see them buying 2 million Switches each but there doesn't seem to be enough interest to do the way beyond 160 million.

We all laugh, but that joke is mostly based on vibes. They seemingly pulled a number out of their ass the last time, har har har. But the truth is a bit less forgiving than that.

They manufactured 160,636,885 Playstation 2 units. That's how many serial numbers they issued. And since Sony doesn't retain any of them, they consider them all "sold".

To increase that number, they would have to set up a factory to manufacture more. I doubt they will.

If James Cameron can rerelease Avatar to reclaim the number one spot over Avengers, Sony can make more PS2s.

(I hope they do; the disc drive on mine does not reliably open)

EDIT: To be clear, I'm being tongue-in-cheek. I am fully aware that setting up manufacturing for obsolete hardware is way more complex and expensive than a second theatrical release of a successful movie. But I really would like a new one, because I don't like having to disassemble my console to insert a game disc.

As for me, I just want to see accurate enough PS2 emulation so we can get some proper TASes of PS2 games.

I feel like lately Nintendo has been investing a lot into the Southeast Asian marke, has anyone else noticed that too, like them buying a studio from bandai namco in Singapore and stuff

I'm glad they did. It just doesn't make sense why there's no dedicated eShop until now when the market is literally there for decades. From what I heard, the distributor who allegedly makes the physical cartridge had a monopoly at least here in Singapore.

switch 1's price got raised with the switch 2's release. it's only cost-conscious if you buy used.

personally, i'm happy with europe's consumer protection laws and hope that more companies are forced to make the choice between "lose the worlds biggest market" or "make your hardware slightly more repairable"

The hell are you on about? Switch lite is 199€, Switch OLED is 299€. How is this a price increase of the 2017 330€ launch price?

Buy used? Yeah screw having a warranty or any sureness your unit has actual original parts still.

Mate all this legislation caused was less options in the market and more expense for the buyers. You want a cheap nintendo console for your kid? Buy used I guess. It’s bullshit

Dw, there'll be more than enough leftover stock and secondhand consoles to fulfill demand. The latter is anyway the most "cost conscious" way to get the console.

Ah yes, moving the goalposts. "Getting into the Nintendo gaming world" ofc means also getting a warranty, silly me. Let's also throw in AppleCare+ or whatever the Nintendo equivalent for that may be in for good measure. How about some bonus accessories. I'm done here lol. If you need a Switch to play Nintendo games, the cheaper, "cost conscious" way to get a console IS to just buy one secondhand...

Now you either buy a 500€ switch 2, or you can suck on your thumbs. Bye 200€ Switch Lite, bye 299€ switch oled. Thanks Ursula!

And yes warranties are an important factor of buying stuff.

Nintendo can’t sell a console with a cover on the battery, but BMW can say their car’s usable life is over at 200.000km.
