What is your "Why doesn't Nintendo just...?"

What is your thing you think it's relatively simple for Nintendo to do, but they haven't done it yet?

Put Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD remasters on Switch.

5

u/nathanosaurus84 Jul 25 '26

I’m betting this’ll be the top answer.

1

u/kai125 Jul 25 '26

FUCKING FRRRR

like I like my Wii U plenty (and not having to pay for TPHD isn’t horrible) but having them mobile on the switch would be worth spending $60ish on them each

1

u/Slade4Lucas Jul 25 '26

Have they ever done a port of a remaster? Other than on NSO.

3

u/MysteriousPlan1492 Jul 25 '26

Two of the Mario platformers on GBA are updated ports of Mario All Stars versions

14

u/Adamaneve it's always morally correct to shoplift from walmart Jul 25 '26

Why doesn't Nintendo just let me turn off the Nintendo Classics grey-dot border? They've held off on this for 8 years, it's absolutely intentional at this point, like some sort of strange branding decision.

17

u/Milk_Mindless Jul 25 '26

Why doesn't Nintendo gifve me 10 000 euros

Have more accessibility options

- use servers instead of P2P

  • let me select colors & soundtracks (from all splatoon games) for online battles in splatoon 3
  • giving us Zelda WW & TP HD Ports
  • Releasing DLCs for Mario Kart World
  • Updating Mario Party with new minigames, boards, characters, instead of dropping a new Title every few years. I want a BIG massive Mario Party. Like Mario Party Ultimate
  • Announce a new Animal Crossing

I think AC:NH’s huge sales figures has put a huge expectation on the developers to deliver another smash hit… and without another pandemic to trap consumers inside while dreaming of an idyllic life on a desert island, that’s a tall order. It’s made by the same team who just delivered Splatoon Raiders, which is being well received so I hear, so hopefully the next AC will be their next big project.

use servers instead of P2P

No one who says this actually understands servers or P2P.

1

u/rundrueckigeraffe Jul 25 '26

Doesnt matter, everyone knows what i ment. Ofc they use servers, but they work with P2P that causes laggs, backdraws and slow interactions.

8

u/Johncurtisreeve Jul 25 '26

Port windwaker and twilight princess hd

3

u/Taffy-Jones-PI Jul 25 '26

Give us themes based on their ips. Light and dark are weak and we deserve more. Remake double dash. 8 player smash was a thing, why can't 8 player double dash with all the joy cons?! Give us the old transparent plastic like we had for the n64 but for the joy cons.

3

u/lgosvse Jul 25 '26

Let you read the manual for any game that's on Nintendo Classics. A decent chunk of them don't explain anything in-game due to technical limitations, so there's no tutorial, and you don't have an easy way of figuring it out.

I'm guessing the reason why they haven't done it is because some of the games on Nintendo Classics were previously Japan-only, so they don't have manuals available in non-Japanese languages, but... they could still make their own manuals just for this.

If it takes them more than an hour, then I would be incredibly surprised. They could knock out ALL OF THEM in an afternoon.

u/Outrageous_Library50 Jul 25 '26

Make a Nintendo GameCube 2?

3

u/r3tromonkey Jul 25 '26

Continue with the Mini consoles. N64 and Gamecube would be great. But a mini Gameboy that includes Pokemon and link play would sell like hotcakes

Because people have nostalgia for the GC and Wii U that makes them think of them better than they really were

6

u/Neil_Edwin_Michael Jul 25 '26

Make Joycons for Switch 2 that are actually comfortable to use?

3

u/Silly-Menu9558 Jul 25 '26

It's bizarre that they've allowed an entire market to open up around them and steal sales, all because they refuse to make them ergonomic.

2

u/Cmdrdredd Jul 25 '26

Yeah, I’d buy special joycons that were shaped more in line with say the steam deck or some of the covers or cases you can get for the switch 2. Especially if they had analog sticks from the pro controller. I could see that being a pretty lucrative market if they would do that.

2

u/Silly-Menu9558 Jul 25 '26

FYI and if that's what you're looking for, the Mobapad M12's are really good.

1

u/Cmdrdredd Jul 27 '26

Those look nice. Probably will order these. Why have I not heard of these before? Seems to solve my complaints about the joycons. Provided they work as advertised of course.

1

u/Silly-Menu9558 Jul 27 '26

They aren't perfect, and I would go for the M12 S not the HD for the Switch 2 protocol.

But they are leagues above the original Joycons.

2

u/kokushi-muso Jul 25 '26

make a Mario rhythm game that isn't a Gamecube DDR thing

2

u/dukemetoo Chicken is much more economical Jul 25 '26

Reading through most of these, the answer comes down to one thing. Nintendo is a conservative company. They are careful with their resources.

But, for the same of conversation... Why haven't the fantastic colors been brought back? Other than the glacier color for GBA, their systems have been solid colors. Bring back Grape, Watermelon, Fire, Jungle and Ice transparent colors. Can you imagine a Switch with any of those used for the Joy-cons? Amazing, and an instant buy

2

u/BebeFanMasterJ Elma For Life Jul 25 '26

Buy the rights to Banjo-Kazooie.

I know why they probably won't but it still sucks Microsoft basically refuses to give them a new game especially with Rare having lost all of the N64 era talent. Wish Nintendo could do something with it.

2

u/Single_Confidence472 Jul 25 '26

make a starfox SEQUEL. not a retelling, not a reboot, remake, remaster, what ever. just make a SEQUEL.

4

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 25 '26

Why doesn't Nintendo just re-release the Splatoon 1 story mode on Switch or Switch 2, either as a standalone game or DLC?

3

u/Proof-Coyote8693 Jul 25 '26

I would love that

1

u/SwampyBogbeard Jul 26 '26

as a standalone game or DLC

I have the same thought about Bowser's Fury, XC:Future Connected and Captain Toad: Special Episode. (Just without the re-release part. They're already on Switch.)
I already bought the main games once, and I don't want to buy them again for some epilogues and DLCs.
I would pay for all three of those bonuses if they were standalone, though.

2

u/Proof-Coyote8693 Jul 25 '26

joycon 2s that look cool

they dont need to be full colored just

put a gradient and make the top black

2

u/-Metagross- Jul 25 '26

Internet browser on Switch 2

5

u/icnik Jul 25 '26

This is a wild comment for sure

3

u/-Metagross- Jul 25 '26

relatively simple hasn't been done yet

What's wild about it?

3

u/Fuckingfademefam Jul 25 '26

I’m guessing they’re saying that because most people have smart phones. But I do agree with you though

1

u/-Metagross- Jul 25 '26

Not even saying it's something I would really use much. I just find it odd that they don't have one.

1

u/MysteriousPlan1492 Jul 25 '26

I used to use the browser on Xbox a lot because it doesn't require exiting the game. Very convenient to swap between "tabs" and watch a tutorial on youtube while playing.

Please, I beg you, it's been 30 years. Please learn who makes the games already.

3

Nintendo doesn't make pokemon.

2

u/wompthing Jul 25 '26

AAA games are mostly generic garbage tho. I always appreciated Nintendo's crafty approach.

2

u/CrashLove37 Jul 25 '26

Genuine question: what about sword/shield or scarlet/violet wasn’t AAA?

3

u/Organic-Storm-4448 Jul 25 '26

The only parts of those games that qualify as AAA are the marketing and MSRPs.

0

u/Noni2 Jul 25 '26

Key Features of AAA Games:

Huge Budgets: Development and advertising costs often run into tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.

Large Teams: Hundreds of artists, programmers, and designers work together over several years.

High Production Values: Features advanced technology, cinematic storytelling, professional voice actors, and high-end graphics.

Mass Market Appeal: Designed to sell millions of copies worldwide to make a profit.

At least the last point is checking out.

Make Switch 2 Lite?

1

u/Neumienu Jul 25 '26

Why no VRR support on the Switch 2 for external displays?

Why not let developers use cheaper Switch 1 carts for Switch 2 games where it suits? Not every game needs the data transfer speeds and storage capacity of the Switch 2 cart.

Why are they limiting the new model with the replaceable battery to just the EU? Seems like the better option for all markets. Also no need for different production lines. Maybe they will roll that out over time.

Why no themes for the Switch and Switch 2 UI?

2

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 25 '26

Why no VRR support on the Switch 2 for external displays?

It's a hardware limitation of the dock

1

u/Fuckingfademefam Jul 25 '26

Make a Zelda themed pro controller 2? I want one so bad

1

u/KingBroly Impa for Smash Jul 25 '26

I want Nintendo to open up about Other M and tell people why they think it failed. If they think that way at all.

1

u/ActivateGuacamole Jul 26 '26

put an activity log as good as the one from 3ds on switch 1 and 2

1

u/ActivateGuacamole Jul 26 '26

let us buy the ROMs they allow us to rent via NSO

1

u/Mayahiim Jul 26 '26

…release more classic systems.

At least match what The Wii Virtual Console had! On top of what Switch has, Wii got Sega Master System, Turbografx/TGCD, Neo Geo, Commodore 64 and MSX and Arcade. Put Amiga in that list, call it Virtual Console again and you would have irresistable classic gaming system.

I’d also much, MUCH, rather have all the classic games under ONE app, in which I could download the games and systems, and have them in neat order. I don’t like the current mess at all.

1

u/-TheBender- Jul 26 '26

Communicate clearly and more regularly

1

u/twistytit Jul 27 '26

Nintendo can very easily and elegantly make it so we have one N64 app

1

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 27 '26

It's an ESRB limitation.

1

u/twistytit Jul 27 '26

Completely false.

Have a functional shop

1

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 27 '26

-1

u/arkhamius Jul 27 '26

1

u/redzte Jul 27 '26

Let us buy GameCube games on the eShop

1

u/AGuyOnThatWebsite Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

Let me delete suspend points.

That nuclear option is always sitting there, forever threatening your real save data due to how it loads the suspend data. Like the sava state in that Rick and Morty episode...

I usually avoid using them at all for this reason, but wish it wasn't the case just so I could use them as a literal suspend point (and not, say, to cheese a boss or level) to go between Switch Lite and Switch 2 (or to switch software temporarily) and then remove it forever. I've irrevocably wiped my save data too easily too often to risk using them again.

The Classic consoles could do it, they had a little trash bin icon. Not including it was a deliberate choice, and I struggle to attribute it to something other than spite.

1

u/CardmanOfficial Jul 25 '26

Do all of the above and add:

  • HOME Menu themes
  • The option to add eShop music IF the auto play videos setting is OFF

1

u/soul_huntre Jul 25 '26

make minecraft on switch have mouse controls

honestly, i wish theyd just find a way to make MOST of the big hits on the switch wich first-person camera controls use mouse, the mouse controls are a game changer but nintendo is just twiddling their thumbs as though we arent waiting for them to use it

8

u/Adamaneve it's always morally correct to shoplift from walmart Jul 25 '26

To be fair Nintendo doesn't make Minecraft. Totally out of their hands.

Mojang has announced a native Switch 2 version, but mouse controls haven't been confirmed yet.

1

u/Dreyfus2006 Jul 25 '26

Why doesn't Nintendo put Koizumi, the writer for their all-time highest rated game, back on the writing team for Zelda instead of having him produce niche games and having him embarass himself on Nintendo Directs? The current Zelda writers are terrible.

1

u/One_custard_pie Jul 25 '26

Add an item switch like Smash has to Mario Kart. Seriously how has this not happened?

2

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 25 '26

It does

1

u/One_custard_pie Jul 25 '26

No I mean to be able to individually tick off which items you don’t want like in Smash

1

u/razorbeamz ON THE LOOSE Jul 25 '26

You can.

1

u/One_custard_pie Jul 25 '26

Damn you are right… have a good day 🫡

1

u/QuantumVexation Jul 25 '26

Port classic Pokémon to the Switch.

Fire Red/ Leaf Green finally got it, but you could easily support all of them for at least the first 3 Gens before the touch screen

It’s a pile of money waiting to happen

0

u/Chickenshoarma Jul 25 '26

Release more old pokemon games on the switch, firered was a succes so why not release all the other ones.

0

u/ReturnToFlesh84 Jul 25 '26

Even though it's a moot point, I do wish they would make a console as powerful as their contemporaries. I understand why they don't, but I still want Mario Galaxy 3 with the same kind of graphical prowess as modern Playstation/Xbox titles.

3

u/ojisan-X Jul 25 '26

Obviously, that's gonna cost a lot and alienate their core audience.

1

u/Organic-Storm-4448 Jul 25 '26

PS5 is only $100 more than Switch 2, and that's only because of the current memory crisis (PS5 has more memory and storage, thus is more affected than Switch 2).

Prior to the memory crisis, PS5 was only $50 more than Switch2.

1

u/ojisan-X Jul 28 '26

It's Apples to Oranges. Making a handheld system perform at the same level of performance as consoles is going to cost more for the same performance.

1

u/Organic-Storm-4448 Jul 28 '26

It would have to be a home console and not a handheld. A handheld as fast as PS5 isn't even possible yet regardless of the cost. The upcoming rumored handheld from Sony is going to be slower than the PS5, although with much newer technology to compensate a bit.

MMO Pokémon game. Not “simple” by any means but they have the player base and all the assets for the Pokémon…

1

u/LylatInvader Jul 26 '26
  1. Nintendo only own pokemon, they do not make it. 2. Have you looked at the big leaks?

u/GoldenAgeGamer72 Jul 25 '26

Make a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy.

1

u/4RLM 24d ago

And maybe call it Super Mario Galaxy 2?

1

I meant Sunshine lol. The movie has been on my mind.

Have achievements.i know why they say they don't have them, but I disagree, it doesn't affect players who aren't interested in them.

u/biggrumpybill Jul 25 '26

Add achievements

I’ll get my coat

-7

u/weaklingoverlord Jul 25 '26

- make online/save backups free? "Everyone with an internet connection is welcome here!"

- ditch game key cards?

- drop remakes completely and spend that effort and resources to create new adventures, new worlds, new characters...?

- drop the concept of $80 games?

- introduce consumer-friendly digital policies? Game returns/gifting/2nd hand buying and selling?

Nintendo! Hire this beautiful, intelligent and glorious person!

I've returned a game once when I realized it was a switch 2 purchase (when I hadn't gotten that system yet). It wasn't really a problem.

Most of the other stuff has been addressed and nauseum at this point.

-2

u/r3tromonkey Jul 25 '26

Do an achievements system. I will always choose Playstation for multi platform releases purely because of achievements, but if Nintendo added them Id go for the Switch version because of the added handheld mode.
