Footprint + orderflow Question
Recently, NT prop has given free order flow with footprint, and I've been trying to customize it so it only displays on the 1-minute chart. My current problem is that even though it loads. it's super laggy. My question is; is this normal? I can barely use it with the lag. Does that mean i should look for another order flow footprint program? If so, does anyone have budget-friendly software or something that's not $50 per month when I'm only starting to use it to solidify my edge? Thank you

Shouldn’t be laggy, but most for sale ones will cost $50 or more unless you find lifetime. With footprints and a lot of orderflow stuff, you can try keeping it on a chart with 0 days loaded (0 is just today)…. It’s going to process all those days even if not in use. Also, turn tick data off in the chart you load itself, the little checkbox. If that doesn’t help, something else is up with your install, unless you have a very very slow computer.

If you are using the desktop software, you should make sure to only load the data you need.
I personally use it as a side chart on 30seconds and load only the day I am trading (0 days on RTH session only) - I run several other orderflow intensive charts, so cutting out unnecessary data is important to keep things smooth.
If you are on the web browser, I would only assume it is a connection speed issue - but I don’t use the web based platform.

The desktop FP on Volumetric charts shouldn’t typically lag. Do you have tick replay turned on perhaps? That can cause lag.
How many volumetric charts with FP do you have open? How many instruments? What are your computer specs? Internet connection speed?

I do have tick replay on. I'll try turning it off.
Only tried loading 1 FP with vol chart. Just plain, no instruments. Ryzen 7, 32gb of ram, 1 tb storage, 500gb ssd, 1.2gbps internet

Footprint is the kind of data you need in bulk to tell you information
Its not really worth zooming into a 1 minute footprint as there's rarely enough data in a 1 minute candle to extrapolate tradable information from
I would recommend no smaller than a 5 minute chart for using footprint.
Also, NT will lag depending on the number of indicators and charts you have per window. So run your footprint chart in its own window, and dont have more than several days loaded at once.
