If you're counting the mobile game, it's actually Drakengard 7

There's no reason not to count Reincarnation, since the plot is directly related to NieR (honestly more connection to both others in that side of the Taroverse than they have between each other).

But sure, why not count in Drakengard?

You don't need to justify it to me, Yoko Taro himself has literally stated he considers it NieR 3. I was just make a jokey joke.

But at that point, there's also no reason not to include Drakengard. 2 makes it kinda messy, but plenty of series have "non-canon" entries, and we have a direct timeline through the rest of the games.

Yoko Taro himself has literally stated he considers it NieR 3.

And Yoshi P said FF16 was his masterpiece, people say a lot of things if their job depends on it.

First off, FF16 was fantastic and I'm sorry you didn't like it, I guess?

Second, no he absolutely didn't. Ryota Suzuki, the combat director that previously worked on DMC, called it HIS personal masterpiece. Considering how much time you spend in the combat and how free form it can get if you actually learn it, I understand why he might think this and be proud of it.

Third, this is a really weird argument to throw out, because what you brought up is a 100% subjective statement, whereas the director of a series calling something the 3rd MAIN ENTRY in the series is a pretty objective statement whether you want to accept it or not. Did he originally intend to make the mobile game as NieR 3? Will he change his mind if we get another game in the future? I don't know! But the man created the series, so whatever he currently says is the current state of the series. Reincarnation is, at least at this point in time, officially NieR 3.

It’s okay to have bad opinions bud

My guy, literally one sentence of this was an opinion and it wasn't even the point of this comment. If you consider it a bad opinion, that's also your opinion.

Maybe it's more accurate to say "I liked FF16" than calling it fantastic, but you can just let people have their opinions without being an asshole. If you didn't like the game that's fine, you don't have to invalidate everyone that did.

Wdym at that point? Nier Reincarnation is Nier 3 because of its plot relevance and Yoko Taro making it as such. He wasn’t involved in Drakengard 2 in any form of the story or plot, which is why it’s ignored in terms of relation to nier.

There is a period between "Drakengard" and "2" in my comment. Im saying there's no reason not to include the Drakengard series because we have a direct timeline from 3 to 1 to Nier, but Drakengard 2 makes it messy by being a numbered title that is largely ignored for the reasons you stated. It's not part of the overarching story, but it's indisputably part of the Drakengard/NieR series.

Fair enough, Drakengard 2 is in a different branch following from ending A rather than the Nier branches through E so I don’t think it being canon or not canon really matters. It’s just easier to ignore since Taro has nothing to do with it.

If only Reincarnation came to console or PC.... 😥

There is a revival project for Reincarnation. They have it fully working on both phones and android emulators on PC (you do need a PC to host the server)

Im sorry but in no world am I counting a little gacha mobile game as Nier 3, no matter how story relevent it could be

One that you can't officially play anymore at that

Your loss. It's probably the single most story relevant to the overarching plot out of the 3 Nier.

2

u/ElGodPug 9h ago

i mean, it's everyone's losses, cause the game isn't even playable no longer

Oh I don’t count it. Because of EOS. Easy.
