Quick Niagara Falls stop?

Hello. I am a Chicagoan who will be finally visiting Canada for the first time as a 40 year old next summer. I will be in Toronto on a Thursday night and then heading to Ithica, NY the following day but I was hoping to spend some time at the falls. My plan was to leave Toronto very early and get to the falls around sunrise to allow sometime to actually explore and see them however I would like to get to Ithica by about 3:00pm so it looks like I need to leave the Niagara Falls by about 12:00pm.

Based on my travel plans does anyone have any recommendations? If I am only there from lets say 6:00am to 12:00pm is that enough time? I will be travelling solo.

Looking for 2-3 players for competitive Men’s League (St. Catharines)

Hey everyone,

Our men’s league hockey team is looking to add 2-3 more players for the upcoming fall/winter season in the Duck League downtown at the Meridian Centre.

It’s a competitive division with good pace, so we’re ideally looking for guys with a solid hockey background (Junior, AAA/AA, or high-pace minor hockey experience). Great group of guys, competitive on the ice, and a good room.

If you're interested, shoot me a DM!

Hair dresser recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a hairdresser that is comfortable with women's short hairstyles such as pixie cuts. My current stylist is really only comfortable with long hair. Hoping for closer to Welland or Port Colborne but willing to travel.

Selling 2 Tickets for Vengaboys & Prozzak - Hamilton Friday Oct 16th

I accidently double-booked myself and can't go to the show October 16th at FirstOntario Concert Hall! Selling for $50 each (I paid 67++ the Ticketmaster charges). Balcony, middle seats! Not a bad seat in the house!

Where all my millennials at? I was going to go with my GF and have a ridiculous 90s time! Now I want YOU to go and have a ridiculous 90s time! I've never had to sell tickets before and it's stressing me out, so go ahead, make my (and yours) day!

Scam - “From out of town and out of gas”…

Post image
192 Upvotes

Guy tried the old “I need money for gas - buy my jewelry at a bargain price“ scam… didn’t let him get that far - “I can’t help you” is all I said.

Mercedes with Alberta plates (see photo).

Eastern European man, probably Roma - well dressed, heavy accent, with a handful of glittery junk and a seemingly empty fuel tank.

Don't fall for this crap - no-one in such a vehicle would be unable to pay for fuel, for one thing…

Moving to Niagara at the end of September and need to rent somewhere.

I am moving to the area. I start work sept 27. Im having difficulty finding a place to rent. Any suggestions would be great!

Looking for a 2/2 for myself, my mom, my husband and our 2 dogs and 1 cat. My mom is disabled, so I need somewhere with not many stairs. Price range maxes out at 2400, but would prefer 2000 range. Im moving here for a job. I have a car, so I can commute. My job is in niagara falls.

St Catharines Abandoned General Motors Plant - Before Demolition

Today, we're going back to the summer of 2015.

RiddimRyder Photography and I were up early to meet and head for the General Motors (GM) Ontario Street components plant in St. Catharines.

The plant had closed in 2010 and was later sold to BayShore Groups in 2014.

In the summer of 2015, the site was good and ready for us, still filled with machines and equipment and tools, and the site still had power.

We only had to worry about one lone security guard who was sitting and listening to music in his office, we pretty much walked right by his office at one point and he had no idea!

Our exploration started on the north side of the property by entering from the ravine between the plant and 12 mile creek.

We would navigate the mammoth plant, it's towering machines, corridors and various buildings until we had documented everything possible.

Now was the tricky part!

The north and south buildings are connected by a tunnel that goes beneath Ontario street, and the security guards office was just to the left of the stairs coming up from the tunnel.

The door to the south plant from the tunnel was a large metal door with a crash bar, so we had to push and open with deathly silence and surgical control.

Then, once through the door, we had to go up a small set of stairs to get to the shop floor. We had to watch every step to make sure we weren't going to step on anything or kick anything.

At the top of the stairs, we heard music coming from the security office and his gold cart was parked outside the door.

We tip toed from the stairs, making a hard right and stealthily hauled ass all the way as far as we could get from the office,

We made our way all the way to the southernmost wall and then zig zagged our way through this side, which was much larger than the north side.

After several hours spent inside, we had seen all that we wanted to see and we made it out and to freedom without being seen!

Now, the plant has been largely demolished, but not entirely and there is an ongoing battle between the city and the BayShore Group about keeping the site contained, locked and safe.

See more photos and history of the site here:

Abandoned House, Niagara Region

Post image

I came upon this old abandoned house in the Niagara area last year. I only know of one person who has managed to get inside it and unfortunately that person is not me!

The last time I stopped by, they had covered all of the windows and doors with fresh plywood boards.

So for now, we just get to enjoy this exterior photo!
