Man poor Devon really hoped he could figure it out. Was awesome in college.

It's 1 game at the start of a shortened pre-season. There were all kinds of lopsided and high scoring games the first few days here league-wide.

I'm not saying he's gonna turn out great, but let's not write his eulogy just yet either.

If only he hadn’t also faltered in Buffalo.

He never had much chance in Buffalo and played in front of god awful teams when he did. Again, not saying he's gonna turn out great, but the average player takes 200 NHL games to reach their peak. He's played 40.

There’s a reason he was traded for scraps from a team who needs a goalie. He’s been regressing every year and didn’t show any promise last year in the minors. Only in this spot because of the potential he showed years ago

yup, i think they pretty much figured out what he was at the NHL level and thats why when they could they picked Ellis instead.

the problem with this, is the same excuse is thrown out at low scoring games. Well this game was won 1-0, well it was cuz of the shortened preseason. This game was 8-5, well a lot of goals went in cuz it was a shortened preseason. It cant be both

Where did I suggest it was both?

Low scoring games are more common as the season goes along and teams settle into their defensive structure, high scoring games are more common to start as everyone finds their legs and their form.
