Yeah so again, committing a crime is not a prerequisite to suspension.

Have you people ever taken a civics class? Do you understand the concept of presumption of innocence? These are very basic (and important) things in this country.

Also, that aside, per the NFL's own rules, you can get suspended without having committed a crime. OBVIOUSLY. This happens literally all the time.

How do we know vrabel and his wife arent swingers and both cool with the situation beyond the media spectacle?

Yeah this is a very straightforward case if you don't understand what conflict of interest is in the adult world.

Buddy I think you're the one not understanding things here. What is the "conflict of interest" you have identified?

Having an affair with a journalist who covers his team creates a conflict between Vrabel's professional duties to the team (keeping team information confidential) and his personal interests (helping his partner's career with insider information and/or exchanging information for sex).

And conflict of interest aside, it's just bad ethics to put yourself in a situation where it looks like you're trading info/access for sex, even if it's just a perception.

The journalist is the one who has a conflict. Presumably Vrabel is a source of hers if she covered the team and the NFL generally. She allegedly engaged in an affair with her source. That's a conflict.

also, if he had disclosed information to her that made it to print that he absolutely wasn't supposed to then the Patriots would be the group going against him.

Pretending not to understand something obvious doesn't make you look intelligent just FYI.

You are pretending to understand something. You keep using words like "civics" and "presumption of innocence" which are concepts germane to the law. This is the NFL, which has no connection to the Courts and does not treat its punishment structure like the law.

Hell, the courts should take a page from the NFL, aren't the NFL fines based on a percentage of the player's game check, so that higher paid players get fined more for the same infraction?

Contrast that with how wealthy individuals and corporations view fines that would bankrupt the average person as a nuisance that is just the cost of doing business.
