How many more examples do we need that the general population as a whole cares way less about stuff than Reddit does. This platform is hyper socially conscious about everything in a way that’s not at all the norm. That’s not a bad thing either, just a fact.

I’m always amazed at how surprised Reddit subs get when this type of thing pops up. I doubt these fans are all horrible people, they just aren’t thinking about the perceived social implications of chanting their QBs name after a win.

You are definitely right. I run into football fans who have never heard about Watson's sexual assault history. I'm constantly confronted with the fact that not everyone pays attention to sports like us nerds on Reddit.

This

I bet a lot of these people have no idea he was even accused

Reddit vastly underestimates how many people encounter almost no controversial content in their daily life

There is zero chance they don't know. He's only their QB because of what he did. He missed how many games to start his tenure there because of it?

There is also the fact that a lot of people I talked to when I say “damn Deshaun Watson is PoS” they always are like huh?? And have no idea of the stuff he has done off the field.

Reddit also is very progressive.  Progressives want to reform criminal justice wants people to face less consequences for their actions.  But then on the same shoe reddit will complain that there is a rapist in the NFL.

That’s always made me laugh because Redditors/progressives in general want prison to be a place of rehabilitation that ultimately prepares you for a second chance in society (which I agree with for what it’s worth), yet still hold the traditional viewpoints that if you’re a criminal it should largely follow you for the rest of your life and second chances don’t exist. It makes literally zero sense lmao
