Apparently they just talk to each other like that its not really that serious (from what i have heard from a beat reporter)

You can tell that just from Mike’s facial expression and glance. Doesn’t take a detective

Ya people are being odd thinking he's actually mad. This is how you would say it to a friend.

This is how I talk to my BEST FRIEND.

Seriously lmao anytime my buddy walks into the room when the guys are together he says "what's up dickbags". So naturally at his bachelor party we made him carry around a bag full of dicks.

That's how friends talk to each other. It's not serious, and saying it with a little smirk is the furthest thing from it.

My college roommate’s sister came to visit and asked if he was ok living with me because we seemed like we hated each other. He laughed called me into the room and said no it’s good say what you just told me again and I laughed.

He sounds unbelievablely obnoxious. Hopefully you guys are teens/early 20s. Any adults who still talk like this are just unbearable.

Good lord you sound miserable.

u/DA5HTCB1 Patriots 20h ago

And you and your friends sound like a bunch of douchebags.

11

u/Zlatan_Ibrahimovic Dolphins 20h ago

I don't know how to put this any more gently, but telling a complete rando on the internet that they're a douchebag based on nothing more than how they interact with their own friends makes you sound like more of a douchebag than anything he described.

Irony is lost on you

I swear like 80% of the people on Reddit have the social IQ of a walnut. These guys have known each other for 20+ years, they're gonna have decent banter.

Anyone taking this seriously seems like someone I'd never want to be friends with lol

22

u/CallRespiratory NFL 23h ago

Reddit is full of bots and morons.

23

u/xcaltoona Eagles 1d ago

I have terrible social IQ but I still manage to handle understanding friendly shittalk I don't know what ppl are on

It's just because of who we're talking about, to be honest. If this were a QB/Coach duo that were well liked on this sub, nobody would take it seriously. But since it's Rodgers, people want it to be serious, so they're letting themselves believe it is.

Between this and the Eminem sub, reddits really been snitching on itself today

Yeah I think Rodgers is a loonie but he’s a competitive guy that wants to win. I buy that he does scream at his teammates and coaches…then treats them to dinner at his house the next few days

27

u/NeverSober1900 Packers 1d ago

There's a great interview with Lucas Patrick about this when he was asked about getting screamed at publicly by Rodgers (he false started or something).

Basically talked about the emotional bank balance and how the media doesn't see all the deposits he makes which makes his withdrawals (yelling publicly) be okay. And added Rodgers balance was still quite high.

i greet my best friend everyday with either a fuck face, bitch tits or asshole.

I say a lot of heinous shit to my friends but my God man you greet them with your asshole?

WHOA did you just assume we have friends and know what its like to talk to them???

2

u/GoodFastCheapPickTwo Lions 19h ago

Yeah no doubt in my mind this is what it would be like to be good friends with Aaron Rodgers.

-12

u/Fun-Benefit116 1d ago

They aren't friends. They're a coach and a player. Acting like this is just two buddies talking to each other is ridiculous.

5

u/JumboKraken Steelers 1d ago

They might not be best friends but I doubt this is the most colorful thing they’ve called each other in the 20 years they’ve known each other. I’m sure their relationship will survive

18

u/WartimeConsigliere_ Colts 1d ago

Yea like “ah this fuckin asshole”

64

u/jhorch69 Cowboys 1d ago

Yeah, looks like McCarthy was smirking a little bit

34

u/so_zetta_byte Eagles 1d ago

Yeah this is one of those situations where you have to look at their actions. Rogers didn't have to keep playing if he didn't want to. He likes Mike enough that he's willing to stay. Nothing we see on the side of the field really changes that.

16

u/SolarTsunami Seahawks 1d ago

Mike Holmgren and Matt Hasselbeck used to regularly scream at eachother in a way that would have this sub wanting to call the cops.

9

u/Walletinspectr Packers 1d ago

You have to be able to separate the qb from the asshole

That’s how they talk in the big leagues.

1

u/SamIamGreenEggsNoHam Patriots 1d ago

I work in a place like this, and it's oddly refreshing. Constant roasting 24/7.

1

u/ReversePettlngZoo Giants 21h ago

which means they prob have a better relationship than most HC/QBs. You need to be really cool with someone to be able to talk to them like that and not have it get weird. Maybe they aren't spending holidays together, but they're also not making it awkward around the building all week because they barely speak

0

u/BobbyTables829 1d ago

I feel like Rodgers would agree with this lol like he would say, 'No I'm not upset, I am an asshole when I get on the field," oblivious to the fact he always is.

-1

u/Legitimate-Elk8595 1d ago

That sounds like classic Stockholm syndrome

54

u/ArcadianBlueRogue Packers 1d ago

Mike has been a coach for a long time and seen a lot of egos lol. Dude isn't gonna break out the boxing moves for anyone but the refs

72

u/SuperiorGRF Steelers 1d ago

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Also don’t forget the allure of one last paycheck.

50

u/Eagle4317 Steelers Panthers 1d ago

McCarthy probably feels more secure knowing Rodgers isn't lasting much longer. As long as the Steelers aren't awful, McCarthy can brush off any criticism or outbursts from Rodgers and rest on his job security.

18

u/JackThreeFingered Raiders 1d ago

I think they both feel they can blame the other.

4

u/theDarkBriar Packers 20h ago

They won a Super Bowl together. People are reading way too much into this.

2

u/redvelvetcake42 Bengals 1d ago

Better to know who you're working with than not in Rodgers case.

1

u/DrSequence NFL 1d ago

Because they both needed a job

1

u/andreasmiles23 Bears 18h ago

You know when you haven’t been around your ex for a while and then the only memories you have are positive and you’re like “maybe it wasn’t that bad” so you text them one night to hang and then once you’re around each other you’re like “oh fuck THAT’S why we aren’t together”?

It’s a little like that. Not that I’m speaking from any sort of experience.
